Default Commentator: "...God was a boy." (ref. to Federer)

Check out this YouTube clip of the highlights from ATP World Tour Finals SF between Federer and Murray. Between the 3:10 - 3:45 minute mark, there's a sick point that causes Robbie Koenig to say something unforgettable: "This is pure genius. You can't teach shots like this. That's a half-volley, open stance, with a single-handed backhand. Last time we saw one of those, God was a boy." I guess when you've watched Federer for roughly 15 years on tour it's hard to find the words to describe utter greatness.

It was such a random but brilliant thing to say. Made me do a doubletake.

Federer will never be as impressive as Agassi when it comes to half-volleys from the baseline. Agassi hit 10 times more half-volleys than Federer, as he made a living on the baseline. And I have no doubt if Agassi played the single-handed backhand he'd hit that shot like it was nothing and regular. In fact I recall Agassi hitting a block half-volley return with one hand on the backhand side for a clean winner, and I'm quite sure it too was open stance.

I do not know about balding, but, look at his back!

I bet this guy is one tough cookie.

i hate when commentators fawn over federer like that. they ruin it for me. commentators just like topping each other in how ridiculously cheesy and sycophantic they can sound when discussing federer.

federer hits shots that no one else has hit. but it doesn't make him a genius.

The thing is Robby Koenig is such a big *******. He makes TT *******s and Brad Gilbert look respectful.

That's the very definition of genius.

This line is from no one else but the great Robbie Koenig. He came up with comments like "Somebody call 911, player X has just got out of jail.", "Phenome-Nadal" and more.

I have missed that jem.

Son, the more I read you the more I can imagine you in your mom's basement. You are so detached from reality.
