Anyone know these two expected?
3.5 and 4.0 ( high 3.5 mid 4.0) play against two high 4.0? Just curious. Thx. Should it be 0-0?

I'd expect a 3 and 2 result.

We won 1 ad 1 an then 0/3 and i thought they got more games than they should have. Maybe they did better than i think. Im the winning team.

My algorithm would put it somewhere around 3 and 2 as well, although there is some room for judgement with the "high" and "mid" definitions so it could vary some. I'm interpreting high 4.0 to be 3.95, mid 4.0 to be 3.75, and high 3.5 to be 3.45.

The scores would seem to indicate that the competition wasn't as strong as you thought (or my interpretation of your high/mid is off), or it is just one of those things where you and your partner matched up well and performed better than expected against the opponents.

Using Dynamic NTRPs to identify expected results will give you an idea of what might/should happen, but the dynamics of any given match and specific strengths/weaknesses amongst the participants and how they match up can result in natural variance both better and worse than expected by several games or more. In the Estimated Dynamic NTRP reports I do, I regularly see best to worst match ratings vary by 0.4 to 0.5 and even more in some cases.

Depends how well the lower team works together, how much doubles experience they have, compared to how well the two high level 4.0's play together and how much experience they have in doubles.
The high 3.5 doubles specialist with his normal best partner would beat two 4.0 singles player who avoided doubles most of their years, and only goofed around when 3 other players are on the court.
A top 4.0 doubles team would infinite bagel a singles 3.5 and 4.0 player.

You guys completely missed the boat, either your heads are buried in sand, or you don't play any real tennis.
NTRP level has little to do with doubles success, unless you match two 5.5's against either of the above teams.
Real world doubles experience, knowing how to play the game and knowing how your partner will complement your strokes, that's how the winning team plays Two singles 4.0 would lose every time.

Nope. The USTA does not publish ratings any finer than the half-point NTRP levels nor offer a way to lookup expected results between two players.

Now, my Estimated Dynamic NTRP could be used to calculate such expected results, but I'm not (yet) in a position to offer this for any match between any players on a regular basis. But contact me (computerratings@techrunning.com) and perhaps we can work something out for a specific match up.

I know it sounds harsh, but anyone who plays doubles knows it's the TEAM that wins, not individuals hitting big shots.
I'm living in SanPablo now, next to Richmond and ElSobrante, 5 miles N of Berkeley.
As for homeless, I'm one step from..... currently living with a g/f at her house. My van is my safety net.
I play noon tennis at RoseGarden mostly, and lately some earlier at SanPabloPark in Berkeley.
Always looking for good player's to hit with, but currently have ankle and knee problems so I seldom play singles.

I've been in instances where two 5.0 lost to two 4.5's. From both ends...back in the past.

It totally depends on how the partner's games work together. Doubles is about a team vs a team, singles skill is not the deciding factor.
