Well the schedule makes sense.
He's got his exhos in the winter so it'll be good for him to rest and practice bit before the AO. Conditions in Doha aren't that similar to the AO anyway. Rotterdam was already confirmed during this summer. Dubai has fast courts, plus he trains there. Nothing much to defend in Miami, which is probably why he chose to skip it, have a larger training block for the clay season instead. Skipping Basel is good, there's no point really playing 3 tournaments in a row. |

Dont know why he skipped Miami, he couldve made up a lot of points there, he might have skipped Rome instead.

I think we'll see him drop one or both of Dubai and Rotterdam. He's already only playing 14 (15 if you count the WTF), so it's good to see him cutting down his schedule significantly.

I think skipping Miami makes sense. The last hard court tournament before the clay court season adds no value. Skipping both MIA and MC gives him time to prep for the FO & Wimby stretch.
But I also see political reasons why he might be skipping Miami. Miami is run by IMG and having broken up with them, I think there is no love lost. Also, its Miami that put the kaibosh on the prize money increase that IW owner Ellison was willing to give to the earlier rounds. Heard that Roger was pretty upset with that decision esp given ATP Chairmain Brad Drewitt notedly abstained from voting thus giving Miami the chance to squash the offer. |

Stay on topic kids
FWIW, i think Bercy is also a stretch. He'll definitely play Shanghai (they're big on the appearance fee I believe), but if he qualifies for the wtf (very little chance he won't), then Bercy makes no sense being so close to the wtf on the calendar. |

Roger's masters is also a backup. No way Roger plays it if he makes it to Finals or better at Wimby.
