With everyone associating playing time in 'hours' to their tennis strings, I need some help with what is considered an hour.
Is an hour on the court an "hour" on the strings. You're not hitting the entire time, changing sides, chasing balls, etc.... Is an hour on the strings the same as an hour of hitting drills and feeding balls ? If you play a set in an hour, would that be considered an "hour" on the strings ? Just curious...Thanks! |

For me, it's the equivalent of an hour of singles. If I'm playing doubles, I'll cut the on-court time in half. If it's a drilling session it depends on the number of people who are there and the intensity of the workout.

I try to specify my hours as singles or doubles since I rarely just hit balls or take a lesson.

If my son warms up hitting balls pretty agressive and then plays a set, I can count the 1 to 1.5 hours as full time ?

I specify mine as singles. When I hit with a pro, or a partner I usually hit many more balls in an hour.

I hit for an hour every day on the ball machine and average about 700 balls, that is far different than playing doubles. I count the ball machines as 1.5 hours, hitting with a partner as 1, singles as 1 and doubles as .75

I was thinking the same thing after reading all the responses.
Hour for me is hitting for 1hr singles or practices (even though I hit more balls in Practice) I am sure in the end between singles and practice it evens out anyways. |

Officially, it's an hour of ACTUAL hitting. Each hit takes 3ms (6ms if you hit hard). You do the math.

With Bab Play&Connect we will finally get accurate play time. Much easier than keeping a running total of how many shots you have hit in a session and multiplying by 3ms.

And it was easy math, too.

Yeah.
So, stop worrying, everybody. Your Poly is good for 2-9 million hits.

fortun8, I think you calculated how many racquet-ball contact bursts (4ms) you need to fill an hour. That doesn't account for the time the ball travels (1.5 sec. ?) Assuming that's correct and each strike is .004 sec., each drive would take 1.504 sec. My 1.5 sec. number is a pretty sloppy guesstimate. But you can see that for one hour (3600 sec.) divided by the time for a drive (1.504 sec), gives us 2394 or 39.9 drives/hr.
