Has anyone else developped plantar fasciitis after wearing the Barricade 7s? I started having this fairly soon after I started wearing the 7s. Could it possibly be due to the weight of the shoe or something else in the shoe structure? I have never had this problem before. Wore the 5s for several years without problems.
Any suggestions on a good tennis shoe for those of us afflicted with this? Possibly the Asics Gel Resolutions? I wear their running shoes almost exclusively now, and they seem to help. Thanks. |

I appear to be having a similar problem, and Nikes are out because of the stupid lacing systems. Next up, Asics Gel Resolutions...

I'm trying the Gel Resolutions too. Let me know if they help your feet.

I don't know what causes mine to flare up, but I've definitely moved the only pair of Barricade 7s I own into the category of 'shoes I wear after the match around the club.'
My orthopedic surgeon pal (who's also a damn fine 5.0 player) claims that it is the stiffness of the upper of the Barricade that inhibits the natural flex and pronation of the foot, especially in movements where you end up on your toes. Since I play almost exclusively on hard courts, I needed to go to a lighter shoe and for me the CB 4.3s have the right arch support. I suspect that a molded arch insert might help, as would typical RICE treatments, and the coke bottle exercises (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0oYIZsmPmc) good luck, sk |

I suggest you visit a medical professional, more so a foot doctor. Ironically, I had a an appt this past monday with the same issue. I'm not saying that any of these replies are correct or incorrect because I've tried everything under the sun to self medicate myself from PF. Things to note is you can't blame one particular shoe, but blame the TYPE or flexibility of the shoe. Also, the type of treatment for one person with the same diagnosis, MAY differ. e.g. my wife was given a night splint/boot to wear during the night time and physical therapy. I, on the other hand, was recommended ESWT and custom hand made carbon orthotics. So, as stated before, if you're PF is extreme, seek professional help.

I developed a severe case with B5's. I have not worn Adidas since. My 5's are still in usable condition but the pain I went through is not worth it. I cut grass in them.
I went to Nike. I was in 2K10's (bought a couple pair) and just got some 4.3's on sale. The arch support is much better for ME in the Nike's.

Had PF awhile back and after a long layoff, went to Superfeet insoles+Gel Resolution 4 and now SF+Vapor 9 and have not had a recurrence. The SF insoles are great - I use blue or orange in all of my shoes. (podiatrist recommended this, and so far so good)
