I know next to nothing about strings, and there are so many choices. I am ordering a Wilson Blade (pink) for my wife for Christmas. Which would be a decent string in the $11-20 range to have that racket strung with from TW? She hits a very flat ball almost all the time, and doesn't use much slice or topspin. Is there any other information necessary for a basic recommendation?
Also, she is a solid 3.5 now, but was in the past, and trying to get back to a 4.0 level. Thanks for the help! |

Or, if there is something slightly higher priced that is really highly recommended, I would be open to that as well.

Tecnifibre Multifeel, Babolat Addiction, and Babolat Xcel, are all above average multi's in your price range. With that said, Mikler or some other poster would probably be better for making a recommendation like this.

Why would you recommend poly for a 3.5 flat hitter?

I think you can get it strung free with wilson extreme synthetic which isn't terrible. It's pretty powerful and it doesn't feel bad.

Tecnifibre Multifeel, Wilson Sensation, Gamma Live Wire XP or Isospeed Professional Classic. All solid, but of the four, I'd take the Tecnifibre.

Wilson NXT is a nice string, but the stuff that comes for free (prestrung) would probably be all right.
I am thinking multis, here, but my wife is a flat hitting 5.0 and she swears by Big Banger Original, god knows why as she barely even spins her serve, just hammers everything as hard as she can flat and deep... (but she was a better player than me when we were young, so I'm not the one to tell her she's 'doing it wrong'!)

Is that not in the drop down list? edit: Just checked, and you are right. Just go with syn gut extreme for free, it's really not bad at all. Last edited by pvaudio : 11-28-2012 at 02:48 PM. |

You could always try a few at the top of my list:

Go with a synthetic multifilament string. The only thing poly will do at that level is kill your arm. Specifically, that means stay away from Hurricane, RPM Blast, Red Code, Black Code, Ruff Code, or any other poly that someone is going to mention in the near future (and undoubtedly, someone will).

Lightning XX Pink.
She'll love it. Not a joke. The ladies go for the Lightning.

Pretty sure TW can put in any string and in any combo if you call them. I would also say a multi is a good choice but I'll leave the recommendations to others.

Any average multi will do. I recommend pink hollow core, match the racquet
