Why spin shots make more damage on clay courts than on hard courts?

I ask this because I think that a ball gripp more on hard courts, only watch how finish the balls in a medium speed hard court match.

A ball on clay courts will bounce higher than a ball on hard courts, for balls of all spins.

So it's not correct when you say that spin works better on clay courts than on hard courts. It just so happens that the ball bounces highest when the it is both played on a clay court and also hit with topspin. That is the "highest bouncing" combination for these two variables.

Hardcourts, cement painted over for the colors, is only gritty when new. Most cement hard courts get slick and slippery after a year of use. Most hard courts around SanFrancisco are older than 6 years....slick and slippery to the ball.
The dirt in clay allows the lightweight ball to bite and react to spin.

There is a poster who said that the ball does not bounce higher due to topspin. It bounce higher because, due to the top spin, it falls from a higher point. Interesting, no?

that is true. topspin actually makes the bounce angle lower than a flat shot compared to the down bounce angle (because it kinda "rolls") . however since it bounces down steeper it will also bounce up steeper because angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.

the bounce is higher on clay because the balls slips more on hard courts but only when the court is slippery. A really rough hard court bounces even harder than clay but those are not really played on tour.

Not the courts at SFSU, I find them to be slow and really gritty. Some of those courts in the complex is just bumpy and lumpy.

I used to play @ the uc berkeley and the courts were pretty good.

This may be true on a red clay court but I have never felt that I get a higher bounce on Har-Tru. Both topspin groundstrokes and kick serves seemed to bounce lower on the Har-Tru.

Look, there's more give on clay. With more give, there's more absorption of the force the ball impacts on the ground as it bounces. When that happens, the rebound force isn't as much. If you don't believe me, drop a ball from waist high on your kitchen floor and then your living room carpet. Tell me which one bounces higher... ya, now you know why.

Ok, thats is correct. The clay absorb more force, the rebound is lower.
