Nadal utterly dominated the clay court season and won the French Open. Ferrer's mickey mouse titles should not trump that. Not only that but Nadal is still ranked 1 spot ahead in the ATP rankings!

Sure he is, but everyone knows this award is a farce. Ferrer can't even make a GS final.

The only reason he won the award, he was a warm body.

Classy champion outclassed his fellow Spaniard:

Hmm....I guess it gets boring to name Nadal each year.

He won consistantly all year, picked up his first Masters shield, played awesome in Davis Cup (as usual) and did what he needed to win this. Great accomplishment David Ferrer! Well deserved!

of course nadal still did more in a half season he played but he already won the award a gazillion times plus he missed half of the year.

so I think it's OK to vote for ferrer just for the change and to reward his hard work. really amazing how he could improve in his late 20s despite having a classic "young players game" (most grinders flame out in their mid 20s like hewitt, courier, wilander and many others).

despite having limited weapons he worked on his weaknesses (takes the ball much earlier now and has a better albeit not spectacular serve) and still keep his strengths.

Yes, Masters titles are completely meaningless. Let's only play 4 tournaments a year.
Very glad for Ferrer to get the recognition he deserves. He has carried the Spanish Davis Cup team the past two years and has received little attention for it.

Why would you bash this poster for congratulating Ferrer? What did he say that was so objectionable? Seems uncalled for to me.

I get bashed around too. It call what's go around comes around. Anyway it's nothing personal. Don't be so serious.
