Not at all - to survive in tennis one must constantly change and improve on one's game. The ones who sit and languish in their old style are the ones who fall behind. Think of Hewitt, Nalbandian...oh the times, they are a'changin.

I don't think he wanted a complete overhaul - just for him to stop dicking around like he was having a hit out with the ducks at the local club thinking he was going to bamboozle top players with slices and funky sidespin. Really it was an approach thing but to be honest I don't think the kid has much character or heart so I'll be surprised if much changes.

What he really needs is to grow a pair...and it is definitely too late for that.

The Dog won a tournament (DC?) as soon as he stopped slicing his backhand. Slice works, but only in moderation.

Tomic has to do one thing to improve his game - add 10 mph to his serve. At 6'5 his serve is an embarrassment.

Just like on the court, he doesn't learn from his mistakes either:

1. If they attempt to arrest you for driving an M3 illegally, why do you think a police van is following you driving a F430 illegally?

2. You have not played enough tennis yet to afford TWO expensive cars when one of which is a sizable fraction of your total earnings.

Use some sense kid.

As evidenced by his spurts of success, his game is fine. It's his mind that needs to be rattled up. Honestly, a good smack in the face by a veteran tennis player would probably do it.

Wow, wasn't the last incident only a few weeks ago?

Also "He stopped for a casual coffee with a male friend"
I find this statement kind of funny, the writer could have just stopped at friend.

Two good things will happen to Tomic soon. Firstly the money will run out and he'll be forced to sell his cars. Then for the first time in his life he'll have players who are younger than him ranked higher than him. If those two things don't wake him up he can kiss any thought of a successful career goodbeye.

He won half of a million dollars in prize money during 2012, plus whatever his endorsements pay him, plus what Tennis Australia pays him; add all that up and it's certainly more than enough to buy a $200K Ferrari and a $100K M3
