Teammate is looking to reduce handle size of a Wilson Triad 3.0 from 5/8 to 1/2. Underneath the grip I found what appears to be a plastic-like covering over the handle. Looks as though removing it could very easily result in 1/8 reduction in size. It is seemless and runs the length of the handle. It will likely take a tin snips to cut through it. It seems like it may have been added to build up the size. I do not recognize it as a shrink sleeve, though it may very well be one. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?? Could it have been added by Wilson?? As far as I know, the racquet was bought new, maybe from one of the big box stores.

Most likely a grip sleeve, even though you don't think it is. Either ways, take a box cutter and test-cut a portion. Should slice right thru it. If so, just cut off the remainder.

Sounds like a sleeve. Cut it off if it is or use a thinner grip like the Babolat Skin Feel.

much appreciate the replies. thx. I'll try the box cutter before the tin snips. we've already tried a thinner overwrap/grip and he still felt it was too big.
