Default player walks off court.......

If score is 6-4 set one and 4-2 set two then player(this player lost set 1 and is losing in set 2) walks off in huff, I know they "default" but what do scores become? 6-0, 6-0 or is it just logged as default against player that walked and points played in "good faith" stand - can't seem to get an answer on rule sheet on how this is recorded.........help. THANKS!

The score would be 6-4, 4-2 (retire) if it's a league match, and 6-4, 4-2 (default, refusal to play) in a tournament match.

If it's for leagues, I don't really know anything about leagues and who enters what into TennisLink. There may also be different rules in your league as to how defaults/retirements/etc. are recorded, so while in the USTA rulebook it would be recorded as I stated above, you may want to double check the league rules to verify that is actually correct.

If your question is for tournaments, either the referee or the tournament director would enter it into TennisLink.

In league tennis usually the winning captain enters the scores. The other captain is suppose to confirm. Generally if you don't say anything it automatically becomes "confirmed" after 48 hours. I am not sure if I ever seen a coded entry for league tennis (other than defaults due to not being played). Usually it is just a score i.e. 6-4, 4-2 without annotation.

I believe in Leagie when you enter the scores you would select Retired in the dropdown box.

yes you have option of completed, retired, default (are there others?) for each match which will show up on scorecard, but on the tennis link listing for a players record it will just be a score. In tournaments they will put a notation next the score. BTW OP should definitely not let a 6-0 6-0 score be entered since games that were played will affect ratings.

There should be a default option. This is a default situation, not retire (unless he was injured/ill/family emergency/etc.)

As I understand it, this was his third match of the day. He had no problems with straw or stick, but was unable to defeat brick.

What did you do to him ? why would a guy just walk off unless you were behaving ??? well I won't assume anything but did you behave badly ? or maybe he was injured and he just didn't tell you because he had to run to the emergency room.

Could he really run if it was an emergency?

It's NOT a default.

It's a retire.

(6-4) (4-2) Retired.
