Thumbs up Racquet Swing weight: unstrung vs strung

How much will the swing weight change in a racquet that is unstrung vs when it's strung?

I recently got two matched BLX95's (16x1 and their unstrung swing weight was 300. The TW site notes that the strung swing weight is approximately 338. Is it safe to believe that when strung the racquet will meet that number?

When adding string the range is typically 28-32 units of additional SW. For example my racquets were matched at 280SW and when strung with luxilon alu power it came to 309. If I were to guess I would say with a multi it will probably come to about 328 and maybe poly about 329 in your racquet. I know that sounds a lot lower than Tw's specs but it is wilson. Welcome to the world of horrible wilson quality control. If they were able to even match them at 300 you must have gotten some from a light batch of racquets.

did you ask that question just so that you can brag about ur new blx?

A set of string is around 20g... since it's located at the end of the lever, the swingweight increase should be more than that... so an increase of 25- 30 SW units sounds right.

Here's me ressurecting another old thread.

I presume this depends on the type of string used?

So if the unstrung SW was 300, would a standard 16g synth gut make the SW about 330, or higher or lower?

Many thanks

And using fx Polylon 16 instead of OG Micro 16 ads 3-4 grams in my experience.

For a midplus racquet, the center of the stringbed is about 21" from the butt. Therefore, each gram of string will add about 2 swingweight units. A 15g syngut will usually add about 15 grams to the frame, so 30 swingweight units. Thick copolys might add 17 grams, so 34 swingweight units. Thin-gauge multis might add as little as 11 grams, so only 22 units.

If you weigh your frame before and after stringing you can find out how much your stringjob weighs. Then multiply by 2, and add that product to 300.
