Default Xcel/Pro Hurricane Tour Hybrid

Hi,

Has anyone used Xcel/PHT hybrid set up before? I have used Xcel and PHT respectively, and both of them felt very nice. So, I am thinking of experimenting Xcel (main) and PHT (cross) hybrid for my ig prestige mp. If you guys have experience of this hybrid, let me know how it is.

Also, is multi/poly hybrid very different from gut/poly one? I have not used any gut due to its high price, but if gut/poly hybrid is very different from multi/poly, I want to try it.

Thanks!

I've tried gut/poly and multi/poly and they are very different but based on the specific strings in question we're talking shades of gray.

A bad poly cross in the wrong frame can make a gut/poly hybrid feel like dog squeeze.

A decent multi/poly combo in the right frame might be acceptable.

But in general I've found that nothing equals a good gut/poly in the right frame at the right tension. Nothing else has as much spin potential, comfort, and control. The challenge is to figure out the right combo in a given frame which isn't always easy.

Thanks,

How is the life span of gut/poly hybrid? I think poly loses its tension and playability a lot faster than gut, so do you have to restring them together when poly goes dead? How many hours can you play with gut/poly hybrid, and compared to the full bed of gut, is hybrid's life span a lot shorter?

I've used this hybrid on my old Head Youtek Extreme at I think was 50 PHT mains, 53 Xcel Crosses. Overall feel was stiff yet almost muted. I thought there was lots of power for my forehand but I didn't see much bite on my slices. Tension was held great though. I probably won't go back to this hybrid however since I'm more of a full poly user.
