Default How much to string a blackburn ?

Im really curious how much it would cost to have a blackburn or double sided racket strung ?
I do know it would be very difficult and labor intensive to weave the crosses on the 2nd side after completing the 1st side string job. Ofcourse it would also matter which string, since it would be 2x$ just for the strings. Just looking for the cost to string, especially if you have experience stringing these beasts. Im sure it would be more depending on the string choice since natural gut or a stiff poly would also make this job even more difficult and time consuming. See below for more racket details:

Wow. 68 RA rating. My 107 feels a lot softer, probably due to the way the grommets stick out a little and dampen the impact. If the manufacturer says 54 max, I wouldn't go much higher. It will put stress on one side of the frame that could break it. Have you ever strung one? They're hard. You can't take it out of the machine once you've strung one plane. They recommend string the bottom plane and using floating clamps to string the top plane. I wanted to use fixed clamps on both, so I strung the top plane, then the bottom plane. It's a real pain working under the strung plane. The mains are easy, but the crosses are really time-consuming. Good luck.

I have never strung one and never plan to string one either. I do not have that much patience. I sure feel sorry for the stringer that has the job to do the factory stringings for the backburne rackets. That stringer sure earns his pay.

It's gotta be a pain to string both of the racquets the company sells every month. That's like 4 normal racquets!

You're right. I wouldn't want to make a living stringing Blackburnes.

How can anyone string that thing, period? No way to thread the top job after the bottom one is done. Not enough advantage + too much pain=failure to sell.

Must be only a few stringers that have actually strung one of these beasts ? I should probably post this on the strung forum board ...

I have strung mine once. It is very, very time consuming. When you call the company, they will restring for you too, but I don't know how much they charge. I'm assuming they're still in business.

Steve, not surprised you have strung one of these rackets since you have done soo many different models over the decades. If I ever do decide to get one restrung, I will not ask a friend, like you, to do so since this is surely torture Did not know Blackburne offered restringing, that is a nice service since this aspect of the product is pretty important and difficult. From the order page on the Blackburne website, it does not appear they offer stringing type or tension options.

From the first paragraph on that page:

Quote:
The racquet requires a little less than twice the amount of time to string as a single string bed racquet.
That can't possibly be accurate. If the first half takes the same amount of time as a normal racquet, how will the second (more difficult) half go faster?

Quote:
Amateurs who play a touch game may never need a re-stringing!
"If you're lucky, you'll never have to find out how much it actually costs to get one of these restrung!"

When I had mine re-strung, I dropped it off before work and picked it up at lunch. I was told that this would be there first Blackburne to string. Not sure how long it took to string, but will ask next time. The guy that strung the racquet for me said that it was unique, but not too difficult. Didn't charge much more either.
