Default Yonex VCORE sale question

Usually when racquets go on sale, it's because they're being discontinued and replaced by newer models. I'm curious if that's the case with the current sale on the VCORE frames, particularly the Tour 89 ?

Thanks.

Depends. Sometimes its just to increase sales. other times it is because model is being discontinued.

The 89 is quite recent so it will be around for sometime.

I'm really just hoping for feedback from the TW staff. Thanks.

TonyB,

The Yonex VCORE Tour 89 is still available and has not been discontinued.

Hey brit! While you're here...could you give us your feedback on the 89 tour, since you use the Vcore 100s? Thanks!

Hi Greg,

Unfortunately, I have not hit with the Vcore 89 Tour as the specs are way out of my spec range. I have talked to Chris who is a big fan of the VCORE 89 Tour. He found it to be very forgiving for its head size, plenty of easy access to spin, good plow through, and came through really nicely on his one-handed backhand.

Hope that helps!

Can you ask him, which string to use for easier spin? I found spin to be harder to access, maybe I am used to the RDX 500s 16x18 vs. 16x20, but I found it harder to get spin from the frame. Everything else is just fine though.

I think with the RDX 500 Mid, it is so easy to find tip speed, that it makes the racquet very easy to generate spin with. It also offers some nice flex and I often find flexible frames to make spin-friendly racquets.

The 89 Tour feels like it has more mass around the throat area compared to the RDX, so doesn't come around quite as quickly. That being said, I hit it a lot with Dunlop Black Widow and managed to generate a lot of spin with it. I also liked the feel of it once I got it moving and found it came through contact very well on my backhand and on serve.

Chris,

Cool! I've settled on Black Widow 17 as well for my 89 Tours! I agree, lots of spin potential. What tension do you have it at?

I do have a fresh set of Tour Bite 17 coming in...that might wean me away from BW...

Both Andy and I would be in the 55-57lbs range with Black Widow and 52-54lbs range with Tour Bite.

Hope that helps,
Chris, TW

Hmmm. I'll try going up, I strung BW at the same tension I used for TB. 52/50.

Thanks!
