OP, sorry for posting this on your thread...but it's still dog related & I don't want to make a new thread.
Anyone here ever have their dog's teeth cleaned? Mine is 6yrs old and the vet told me she needs to come in for cleaning. She quoted me anywhere from $300 (cleaning, anesthesia, the basic stuff if nothing goes wrong) up to $900 (if need tooth extraction). Is this normal basic price or is it way too much? I haven't shop around, but want to check here first. Thanks for your help! |

Unfortunately that's the standard price vets charge. The anesthesia isn't really good for the dogs, and some vets don't recommend it. One of my grooming places has a veterinary dentist come one Friday a month. She does cleanings without anesthesia for I think $125. She does a great job, and it's much less stress on the dogs. Obviously if their teeth are really bad and need advanced work, you can't avoid the anesthesia an high prices, but it's not necessary for basic cleanings.
