I think I've spent about $850 in 5 years. About $500 of that was for 4 Microgel Prestige Pros, which should last me another 4 or 5 years. So I guess I spend about $80 or $100 per year.

I'm surprised so many people can sell their racquets at cost. I kept a spread sheet to track my tennis expenses. I had played with a total of six racquets from the time I was 14 costing me $500. In the last 3 years I've bought 63!!! I've sold 45. Leaving me with 18 racquets I spent roughly $3,296 on. ($183/racquet) The only racquets I made money on buying than selling are 2 KPS 88's I bought on super clearance at a pro shop and a couple of APD GT's I got a relatively cheap on flea b, then made maybe $20 and reselling them. Unless you guys are getting racquets cheap from player deals, buying used at rock bottom $ or clearance racks it's hard to believe you can even break even much less turn a profit with a large collection. if you buy a 2013 APD for $200, I can't see you breaking even on that. Tennis racquets are like cars. They lose 20% of their value the minute the plastic comes off the handle. thankfully i have stopped the madness and am looking to sell another 10 of my racquets, then wait a decade before buying again.

That's why you don't but the rackets new. There's really no difference in playability of a racket that's brand new in plastic as oppossed to one that's in 9/10 condition.

Oooooohhh,, i dont even dare to think about the amount i spent buying racquets the last 5 years. Holy lord!

Most frames has been sold though, so the money lost, or can you say money lost in this case?? I have got the chance to play with many frames and it has satisfied me in a good way.

I'm with Hank... just thinking about how much I spent on racquets in the past years makes my head hurt and my wallet seem more empty than it actually is.

For awhile, ~4 years, I was playing with 4 MgPresMids, that I accumulated at various prices over that time period.

Then I decided, a year ago, to start demo'ng. I've probably spent ~$1,000 net in the past year or so on frames. I'd demo, buy and resell, so gross value would be +70% of net.

Have settled on just one, the exo3Tour100 18x20. Funny thing is, it was the first racquet I decided to buy after demo'ng when I first put down my MgPresMids.

Tennis is a relatively cheap hobby and a healthy one at that. Every time I buy heads and sticks for my drum set, I'm down ~$200. Including cymbals, hardware, drums, percussion accessories, electronics, cases and hand drums, I'd estimate a ~$15,000 value.

I've spent over $1K on racquets, but that's only about 6 of them, as I pay full retail price typically... although I'm starting to buy more used racuqets...

It depends. Some pay $200-300 per week for multiple coaching / lessons. Rackets are not that expensive if you play with the same 2-3 sticks all the time. Stringing adds up if you restring a lot, and with expensive strings.

If you count the club memberships then it is a lot more...

But I know, I have seen some serious audio stuff. You can spend $300K easy.

I've bought a decent amount of racquets over the years but I don't collect them. Once I find my holy grail for now I sell my old racquets either on the classified section in here or on e bay.

Same here. I buy used many times.. as a long term demo. If it does not work out, I sell them or trade them away. I have had as many as 20 as a few as two.

I also flirted with second hand racquets a month earlier, getting three for under $20 each. So everything I got this year cost under $300. Thats close to the most I've ever spent on racquets in one year.
Cheap?? No, I'd just call you smart!

I'd put you at #1! some of you guys actually make me feel a little better about my racquet spending! I'll be waiting for my current racquet of choice to go on sale before stocking up on a few backups. which in most cases is a year or two after it's initial debut.

I have been collecting, trading, buying and selling since 2007. My collection grew to about 75 racquets. I'm now down to about 10 racquets and actually made over a thousand dollars in profit...at least that's what I told my wife anyway LOL

I go through about 6 racquets a year, but I never have more than 3-5 on hand at any time...usually just 2 or 3. I keep a balance in my PayPal account and don't get a new racquet until I have enough money from sales to cover it, so the money just comes in and out. Also I find bargains here on the classifieds or on the Bay. Sometimes I buy/sell a few times just to raise spending money for a racquet I want. If you are
smart and patient, you can make more $ than you spend.
