I am not an expert in identifying blacked out racquets, but it sure look like Tomic went down in head size which makes a lot of sense for his style of play.

Default Australians put up with a lot

All fixed now.

I'm not really familiar with this stuff but is Tomic considered by Australians as one of them?

What I mean is... his parents are from Yugoslavia, he was born in Germany and was 3 years old when they migrated to Australia (?).
Everybody loves a champion and this kid can play but his attitude not to mention his fathers' attitude makes me wonder how is he regarded in Australia?
Australians put up with anything if, the player is winning!
Which sucks

I wonder what role trying to play with a Yonex for a year played in Tomic's poor 2012?

Speak for yourself, thanks very much. Those of us who've had the misfortune to deal with this kid and his dad are most definitely not fans.

It's the player if and when they're happy with their racquet, but if they're not they're not going to play well.

I actually think it played a significant role if you ask me. Some people will disagree like the poster above saying its all about the player.. but I really think him back with his Head will suit him well.

so, what's the consensus? will he openly switch or will Yonex paint him up some Heads?

it'll look pretty shaky if they do 'cos that thing looks nothing like anything Yonex have made in 30 years...

I'm going to gather he will continue to use blacked out racket until either Head or Wilson (whatever racket he is using) buys out his Yonex contract.
Or perhaps he had only a one year contract with Yonex. Not sure. Anybody on these boards stringing at the Australian Open. They would know best about his racket.
Yonex not posting results on Tomic on their website which leads us to think it's not a Yonex racket.

It's not. It's the HEAD YT Radical MP 16x19 TGT260.2
You can even see HEAD on the bumperguard.

In this article, he says its a new Yonex racket but just did not have time to paint it.

It's funny because Yonex hasn't said much of late in regards to Tomic. He is still under contract. Even if he's using a head, he won't say anything until Head buys out his deal or Tomic will owe a lot of money to Yonex.
But Yonex will manufactor rackets to keep their players happy. They tweaked Ivanovic's racket for three straight years until she settled on the Ezone XI 98(obviously her specs are different from ours).
That's a lot of money lost in tweaking models on a yearly basis. Imagine selling a new model racket and less than 12 months later it's different. Great for selling the latest technology but not good for those who bought the previous model.

Commentators are saying it's "his old school Head racquet".

A blacked out PC600 perhaps? It looks like Prestige Mid...

^^
Vsbabolat already covered it. That's definitely not a mid.

Vs (or anyone): is there any fundamental difference between 'TGK' and 'TGT'? Or is it simply a new code for a newer paintjob? (we'll see tgt's from here on, for instance, or something like that.') Just curious what the tgt signifies compared to the seemingly more prevalent tgk codes.
