Yeah, as others have said, make sure to pull enough string through to complete the cross before starting, so you're not trying to pull the string through the grommet as you weave. Also, with poly I personally find it easiest to weave through half the mains, then pull a little slack through, and finish the cross. Otherwise, my fingers start to slip off the string towards the last few weaves because of all the friction like what's happening to you. If I take a quick moment to pull some slack after weaving half way through, then I can smoothly finish.

learn to pull weave.... also 99.9% sure said i was going to put up a video on how pull weave about 5 months ago. =X

I like IPA when stringing polys, but prefer a good Taddy Porter with gut.
Iced tea if doing a hybrid job. I drink a lot of iced tea.
