Default Recipes Swap: What do you like to make?

I love to cook, but I love to eat more. I like trying new thinks and getting recipes that other people have actually made. Here are a few recipes that I like and have actually made:
-Bobby Flay's Mac n' Cheese- http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/b...ipe/index.html
-Turkey and Leek Pie-http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/turkey-recipes/turkey-and-sweet-leek-pie
-Cornbread- http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/i...ipe/index.html
Simple for my 3 year old:
-French Peas- http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/v...ns-and-lettuce
-Marshmallow Squares- http://thegreatbalancingact.com/2010...allow-squares/

You really love the Food Network / "star chefs" I see.

I stick with the more "classic" recipes myself.

My wife made this one winter day:

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...od-Stew-100966

13 years later and its still one of my all time favorites. We use cod instead of the fish listed, but I'm sure snapper or roughy would do just as well.

Oh, and I'm not certain, but she may also add a little Tobasco or Texas Pete to give it a kick.

Cool

Returning home from a very late night working made for a "necessity" creation...I call it "Lazy Man's Flatbread Pizza" as all it takes is opening some containers and hitting the microwave button:

1/2 can diced tomatos (Hunt's sweet onion was my test type)
4 oz. shredded cheese (Sargento's 6-cheese Italian)
20 or so Nabisco Triscuits (Rosemary/Olive Oil)

layer the Triscuits on a Mw-safe plate
cover Triscuits with a generous amount of tomatos
sprinkle the cheese
Nuke for 3 minutes or less (cheese need not bubble)

it was 3am when this hit the spot...way too late for delivery but almost as tasty! I'm gonna try a chicken BBQ version next.

Tyler Florence has a nice grilled, boneless leg of lamb set up and I've also had excellent results with Giada's osso buco recipe from that site.

I'm a horrible cook, mostly because I'm so lazy. But I would really like to learn to cook good food. It'd be so nice to be able to make something really luxurious, something that looks - and tastes, naturally - stunning, to a woman you like.

I'll be trying to get into cooking this year if I manage to conjure up some free time and energy. So far, this year, I've tried one receipe and it went surprisingly well. I made Shepherd's pie. I visited Ireland a couple years ago and really enjoyed the shepherd's pie there together with a Guinness, so I decided to give this video recipe a try:

Check out Chef John's videos on youtube from Foodwishes, and add Foodwishes to Flipboard to browse recipes that look appealing. This is a very good starting point for people who want to step up their cooking game. It is one of the best resouces I know of for creative, tasty, yet simple to prepare recipes.

My mom taught me how to make Shepard's pie. It's a phenomenal dish when done right.

dParis: cheers man, thanks for the tip! By the sound of it, that's exactly what I need. But I have a huge problem: I'm extremely fussy when it comes to food and I hate onions (among other greens) with a passion, which limits me a lot.

NickC: the best thing about shepherd's pie is how easy it is to cook seeing as how you don't have to really time the meat and mash, since you stuff it all in the oven anyway.

canadad, u and I have another common interest. I cook everything from meats to deserts.
Ever since I discovered the slow cooker bag by Reynolds, I have been on the crockpot alot. here's is an easy one:
3 slabs of baby back ribs
20oz bottle of sweet rays (or another sweet BBQ sauce)
8oz Kraft original (or another tangy base BBQ sauce)
4 oz honey
chopped garlic

direction:
cut up slab into 4 sections
grill the ribs until half cooked. don't worry about getting it a little charred, it will add to the flavor.
put grilled slabs into slow cooker
pour mixture into slower
cook on high for 3 hrs.
after 2 hrs, take ribs out and put ribs from top of cooker to bottom and vice versa.
after final hr, take out ribs and drain liquid into saucepan and reduce to half. serve with ribs.

to cleanup slow cooker, take bag out and I am done.

I love Americas Test Kitchen. I tried alot of recipes from them. one of cuisines that I want to learn is Indian. I think its one cuisine that can be cooked with intense flavors without intense fat.

Oh yes, the slow cooker. My wife and I have not taken that out for a while, I think it's time. We actually made the eggplant lasagne from America's (Cook County) Test Kitchen. I tried making butter chicken a few months ago, and for some reason it turned out bitter. I think we used the wrong type of yoghurt.

I had that happened to me once, for me, I used too much of a spice or I cook the sauce too long.

yeah the crockpot condom (wifey hates it when I call it that) works really well. cuts all the cleaning off of the 6qt porcelain pot. I am accident prone in the kitchen, so this helps a lot.

if u like atk, try their triple choco moouse cake. 10 out of 10!
