I switched racquets from the Head YouTek IG Instinct MP to the Babolat Pure Drive 2012 and i find this is the stick for me. The PD2012 is known for stiffness and power so i need help finding a string (preferably poly or poly/gut,multi,syn hybrid) that will last a pretty long time, and good tension hold.

Solimco tour bite. Great string. Will give you lots of spin and help control the power of the pure drive

Don't waste your time. Get right to the meat and potatoes: 100% Wilson Natural Gut 17G at 60-62#. Nothing holds tension better. Lasts quite a while actually and the nat gut takes away some of the harsh stiffness. 60-62# will also keep the power under control. Spin? Plenty.

^ Thanks i might use babolat gut. Anyone know the most durable babolat gut and tension hold? And does natural gut move a lot?

I have 2 PD's and a PDR. Right now we are trying RPM Team @ 54lbs crossed with PSGO @ 58lbs..
So far it has been really nice. Holds tension well, great spin, and the durability is holding up well. About 8 hrs right now and still playable. For a great value setup, substitute the RPM Team with Discho Iontec Black.... its also great. |

I have 2 Babolat PD2012s. The first is strung at 62# with 17G Babolat VS gut with BT7 (BT7 is a coating that is supposed to make the gut last longer. Many say it makes the gut feel stiffer than the original non-BT7 gut). The second is strung at 62# with 17G Babolat natural gut (Non-BT7... supposedly still made for Wilson by Babolat... aka "original formula VS gut"). I'm not sure which I like best. They are both very good. Tension loss with nat gut is among the least of all types of string. My experience is about a 8-10% loss over the first few weeks then it greatly stabilizes pretty much until it breaks. Never looses feel. The RacketTune app on a smartphone can be very useful in tracking tension loss. IMO, nat gut offers great value for both your arm and wallet (considering you should/will replace other types of string 2-4x within the same period that gut is in your racquet). Use a 16G (or even a 15G) nat gut if you want it to last even longer (more durable). Last edited by AlfaAce : 01-08-2013 at 08:58 PM. |

So i decided to do a hybrid with RPM Team on the mains and im looking for a natural gut, multi or sun gut as a cross but which one? I really want to use gut but its too expensive. I was thinking pacific classic gut and for multis Babolat Xcel or Prince premiere attack. Can anyone recommend a cross please? I want something thats soft and durable and tension maintenance thanks
