hi there
this might be a stupid question but thought i would ask. ive jsut got my dunlop 200g back on the court and it feels great. i still have the original grip on the racquet but it has worn quite badly. i was using overgrips on top of it. i was just wondering: 1) will replacing the actual grip and then putting an overgrip on top produce a different feel?? (ie. comparing worn grip & new overgrip to new grip and new overgrip) interested in your thoughts! |

Depends on which type of replacement grip you choose. Leather, Synthetic, Gel, and more. Leather definitely will feel different while hitting. It's more heavier than the rest of the types. I like a fresh leather grip under my Pro Overgrips but the Pro overgrips get worn out too fast and feel like paper afterwards so it gets a bit costy just to replace it all the time. The Gel ones I.E Wilson Shock Shield, absorbs more shock. Replacement grips flatten out the more you use them so you can choose to replace it if you want.

Does the 200G not already come with leather? In which case, if you use a standard synth grip you will change the feel and balance of the racket. The Dunlop leather is quite heavy so you may want to try and get a replacement Dunlop leather grip.

try to clean it with some castor oil, keep the original if you can save it.
otherwise, just get a new leather. i use the TW branded leather grips and they are fine (i use an overgrip).
