Looks like Clemson up an early break on 3 courts...winning 4 singles will be tough.

Doubles lineup is the same as the last meeting though it appears UCLA has moved Clay Thompson up to #4 singles and dropped Dennis Mkrtchian down to 5. USC has the same singles lineup. Smart move by Billy because Mkrtchian wasn't going to beat Hanfmann though Thompson may. That could be enough to push UCLA over the top.
Last Weeks Result: #2 USC 4, #3 UCLA 3 DOUBLES (1) Giron/Novikov (UCLA) def. #48 Hanfmann/Sarmiento (USC) - 8-4 (2) Puget/Sell (UCLA) def. De Vroome/Quiroz (USC) - 8-2 (3) Gomez/Johnson (USC) def. Brigham/Mkrtchian (UCLA) - 8-4 UCLA wins doubles point. Order of finish: 2, 3, 1 SINGLES (1) #58 Dennis Novikov (UCLA) def. #12 Ray Sarmiento (USC) - 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 (2) #10 Emilio Gomez (USC) def. #13 Marcos Giron (UCLA) - 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 (3) #23 Roberto Quiroz (USC) def. #42 Adrien Puget (UCLA) - 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4)* (4) #94 Yannick Hanfmann (USC) def. #55 Dennis Mkrtchian (UCLA) - 6-2, 6-4 (5) Clay Thompson (UCLA) def. #109 Max de Vroome (USC) - 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 (6) #48 Eric Johnson (USC) def. Karue Sell (UCLA) - 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 |

That was crazy and also notice that in the 5 matches that went 3 sets the person that won the 1st set lost each of them. That's why swapping Thompson/Mkrtchian makes sense at least for this one match today.

I would have assumed that coming of of a 4-peat, there would be more seniors this year. I have no idea why, I'd think that. I guess I just assume that the regular flow of recruits, there are going to be two or three seniors every year. I know that there are one or two who aren't starting, but still. So, this is USC's "down" year? I do think Virginia will finally get their title, but USC and UCLA have already shown that they can compete, and then USC has every starter back next year? That's crazy. |

UCLA has every starter back next year except doubles specialist Alex Brigham.
Georgia loses only KU Singh, but he is #1. Virginia loses Jarmere Jenkins at #1 and doubles specialist Julen Uriguen. I don't know if Florida has any seniors in the top six, do they? Ditto for Tennessee. Duke loses only Henrique Cunha, their #1. There are a lot of teams that lose zero or one from the top six singles. This is kind of a young year, for whatever reason. |

I get a blank screen for the San Diego-Boise State LiveStats, on three different browsers.
I get a lineup from LSU for the Texas Tech match, but no score updates after 90 minutes of supposed action. Anyone else having any luck on these? |

Sell had won 3 straight and tied up Johnson at 4-4 in the 3rd but Johnson breaks and will serve for the match up 5-4. Mkrtchian was serving for it up 5-2 and got broke but broke back to win it 6-3.

Eric Johnson finishes it so it's 3 all. Giron went up a break on Gomez but Gomez broke back and held. Giron now serving 3-4.
