My men's team just started the 2013 spring season and we are short of players. Two weeks ago a player called wanting to join the team and I gave him the team number to sign up which he did. We have a match next Saturday and when I printed the match score card from Tennis Link I noticed that my opposing team had a player with the same name as one of my players.
Drilling down deeper on Tennis Link, I realized that both teams have the same player on our roster(s). My League Coordinator says that is impossible but facts are facts. I talked to the player and he confirmed he joined two teams but says he "quit" the other teams after playing the first match. Could the computer have made an error?

They only let you switch squads if you have not yet played a match for team 1.

Question ... when he logs onto tennis link does he have both teams listed under the same membership number ... or did he make up a "new" account with the same name to join your team?

You could do a "Find NTRP Rating Info" search on his name to see if the same name is listed twice.

yelp he is in twice in the same division. Our $5 to Tennis Link per team should be refunded.

The nutz suggested you do a search for his rating on Tennis link under ratings search and see if two separate listings with the same name show up. This would suggest that when he registered for a second team he made up a new account to get around the rule that he may only play for one team. If he has two listings shown this is not a flaw with Tennis link but an indication of shenannigans by the player himself. Either way the league co-ordinator needs to get involved to fix the issue.

I understood the question. Yes, it is the same person, USTA #, address, etc. He merely, not knowing he could not, decided to quit a team and join another one. Nothing deceiving. The TennisLink computer should have prevented him from doing this but it did not

The League Coordinator is supposed check the Duplicate Player report to see if a player has registered for more than one team at the same playing level. TennisLink doesn't stop a player from registering on more than one team in the same league.

^Really?
Wow. I would think Tennislink ought to be sophisticated enough to prevent what occurred here. Then again, the words "Tennislink" and "sophisticated" shouldn't appear in the same sentence . . .

Well I hope you didn't let him play since he would be DQ'ed.
