To Lag or Not to Lag? That is the question on the serve.
Which serve set up is better? If you don't know what i mean, fed has almost no lag on his serve, but verdasco, karlovic have a big lag on the serve. Any advantage of one style to another? Does on give more precision or pace?

lag, as in high ball toss?
I think better timing is possible on higher ball toss....but better disguise on lower ones....more time also gives opponent more time to prepare/expect |

bhallic - are you referring to the racquet arm having a delay behind the ball toss arm? If so there are many coaches who advocate this (I think Heath Waters was one who speaks quite passionately about this - if GA Tennis is around he might be able to clarify if this is still the case or if my memory has deserted me!).
Personally I think it's more a matter of preference an I tend to work with players to try the various arm config's to see what gives them the best rhythm and feel. Cheers

We are all built differently, have different nerve firing sequences.
In other words, whichever works best for you. Some say a Tanner/Goran is best. Some say a Graf/Stich is best. Can't really follow examples like Querry, Isner, Milos, Dr.Ivo, Janovich because they are tall and can pummel any motion with equal speed. That's why there are so many different techniques that work. |
