I need a durable but playable thick string for my wilson steam 99s.
Have someone tried ISOSPEED Baseline 15L and 16 with it, and suggest which one is better suited for it. I know the 15L is a little bit thicker but there's not much customer reviews for it. I would like to see if the thinner 16 was still durable enough yet performed a lot better than the 15L to decide to get the right reel. By the way, these ISOSPEEDs are traditional polys, they not co-poly, is that correct? I am also considering Genesis Black Magic 15L but it's about 1.33mm, which is not much thicker than any 16 G string (1.30mm). If anyone can compare Black Magic 15L to the ISOSPEED strings, please share, thank you! |

By the way, for those who have Wilson Steam 99s and are using 15L strings, does the extra thickness of 15 / 15L over 16G compromise "feel" dramatically?
If it's only a small, subtle difference in drop in feel, then I would still consider getting the thicker 15L reel. I've only used 15L once ( Prince Topspin Plus Syn. Gut ) in a 16 X 19 String pattern racquet, and I hated it. No feel whatsoever. But I've never used a 15L Poly in a very open string racquet so wouldn't know how much feel is compromised when switching to a thicker string. |
