Default Taking Video During Matches

Are there any rules when it comes to taking videos during junior matches? I used to take video with a camcorder and tripod, and no one ever complained. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a wide enough shot, or - more often - there were several courts between where I sit and where the court on which my son is playing.

I just ordered the QM-1 camera mount (www.mytennistools.com), and it looks like it will prove to be an invaluable teaching tool. Do you think hanging a camera on the outside of the back fence of a court is any different from the aforementioned way I described?

I was told by a USTA official that I need to ask the tournament director as well as the opponents if it is okay to record, but I can't find any specific rules that is relevant to this issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Correct, you need atleast from the opponent or his parents/coach a consent, if it is USTA junior match.

Also Eastern USTA section has a blanket BAN on recording.

Thanks so much for the insight. I'll definitely follow protocol.

Why would the Eastern USTA section ban recording matches? It's a good thing we're in Southern California.

Not sure if anything valuable in here, but there was a pretty recent thread on this topic:

Below is the videotaping policy for North Carolina as noted on their website:

USTA Videotaping Matches Policy
There is no USTA rule prohibiting taking videos or photos of USTA junior matches. It is possible that
individual facilities (public or private) may have policies regarding videos or photos, so you should check
with the facility management before taking photos or video on their premises. And, in the case of
juniors, USTA Southern recommends that you obtain permission from the parents of the other child
prior to videotaping a
