That was 2005.

He also did in Halle 2008.

Roddick won Lyon 2005 and Dubai 2008 without dropping serve.

Not that I know of. There was a thread made after Federer won and a number of posters claimed that his achievement was a first.

In some ways I find his Doha 2005 performance even more impressive than his Cincy 2012 performance. Like Cincy, Federer didn't lose a set in Doha, but amazingly in Doha none of his opponents won more than 4 games against him in a set and he only lost 23 games in total. In Cincy, Federer was taken to three tiebreaks and lost 35 games (though this might partially be a function of surface speed). Obviously, Cincy is a more prestigious tournament, but his competition at Doha that year was also quite strong: Ferrer, Rusedski, Lopez, Davydenko, Ljubicic.

Dunno but Roddick did lose to Federer in the 09 Wimbledon final by being broken only once -- 14-16 in the 5th set. Roger OTOH had been broken twice (or was it 3x) in the 1st and 4th sets.
