Default doubles tennis history

Hello everybody,
Iīm tennis fan collecting tennis results and rankings for more than 20 Years.
I am searching for year-end tennis doubles (individual) rankings for years 1976, 1977 and 1978. I canīt find them on the web (I found only since 1979). They are missing even on ATP web.
I am asking, if someone on the forum could check and find if these rankings are in his own archive (books, magazines). If someone has it and is willing to scan and send to me by e-mail, I would be very thankful.
I will not publish it (nowhere), it is only for my own information.
Thank you for your willingness.
Peter

Hi.
According to the ATP doubles rankings I can find, Raul Ramirez finished the year-end rankings for 1976 as no.1 doubles player and Frew McMillan was year-end no.1 for 1977 and 1978.
I haven't got my Yearbooks for 1976 and 1978 any more.

I used to love the doubles back then too with great teams like Mac/Fleming, Lutz/Smith, Gottfried/Ramirez, McMillan/Hewitt, McNamara/McNamee etc.

In 76 it was Fred Mc Nair while Sherwood Stewart won the 79 pool
As Xavier pointed out doubs were extremely fun and popular then

Has tennis become too serious now?

No fun, no kidding around, no joviality? All business, killer instinct, etc.

People used to stay to watch doubles and players used to be more relaxed
At the later part of the journey myself had the need to pick up some doubs action and disconect from singles

By the way, this is how I imagine perfect doubles
It was French Open, not exhibition

That's fine for exhibition matches - but at a tournament - disrespectful! Especially since they beat those other guys!

These rankings were published in the World of Tennis Yearbooks. But I do not have them at hand now.

Great job indeed.

One of my favourite doubles teams of those years was Case and Masters, two fantastic doubles specialists.it is rare not to see them ranked in the top 10 in 76 or 77, which was when they were playing their best tennis.

Meiler and Stockton were also very good, although didnīt have a regular partner like most of the players in your lists.

I think you can tell that one of Nastase's opponents does not appreciate his antics.

I would also include Lott/ Stoefen and Mulloy/Talbert, rather than Drobny/Patty and Schroeder/Parker.
