They're so close at this point. I think it depends on who brings their A game.
I still think that with both at their very best Federer still wins. |

Have you forgotten about the marathon match Fed played against Delpo in the semis at the Olympics? If you don't think that had any effect on Fed's performance then you're sorely mistaken. Unlike Djoker, who has this superhuman ability to come back after a marathon match and play another and win, Fed is actually human. So, the question is...since Murray had a cakewalk of a draw and a QF he could have played blindfolded, will Fed's long match against Tsonga have the same effect on him as the Delpo match? Alternately, some mught say Murray hasn't been tested and may be in for a rude awakening. I don't know. Maybe that will help even out the playing field a bit (that and the fact that Murray hasn't played on RLA at night yet).

I agree Djoko is the fave if he meets Fed but I certainly wouldn't base the outcome on anything that happened vs. Tsonga. Tsonga is a completely different player from Djoker and Fed plays him quite differently too.

From what I've seen, Federer can beat Djokovic if he serves at 75%. The Tsonga match was the only time in the whole tournament that he even looked mildly in trouble. Sure, Djokovic is the definite favorite but he's not Nadal at the French Open and is vulnerable. Anyway, Federer has to get through Murray first and needs to do that in 3 or 4 sets to be able to stand a chance against Djokovic.

Funny how Fed's 1st serve % will be crucial but Murray's won't be. It's 50-50 either way you look at it. Kind of sad Nadal isn't there to give Djokovic a proper fight.

I think Murray and Djokovic are 1 and 1a on hard courts. Federer might still be better on his best days on grass. I think Murray takes it in 4.

This one is interesting. For me personally as a Murray fan, I go into their matches thinking the outcome depends solely on how Federer plays.
This is possibly the first time I feel it depends on Murray. Murray has taken pace off his serve and been slicing it and making a higher percentage. He hasn't been striking the ball very well, but he started to show signs of improvement against Chardy. If he puts it together, I fancy him for this one. Anything less and Federer should come out on top. |

at this stage its 50/50, fed didnt look that good yesterday, murray knows he needs to be aggresive with fed, not playing his pusher game, but whether he can bring it on is the question. and if he does, how long can he keep it up.

The only way fed can win the match tomorrow is if he gets out to a quick start. murray hasn't been tested once in this tournament and the only way roger has a chance is if he can frustrate him and get him on the ropes early. That isn't going to happen, and murray will walk away pretty easily in 3-4 sets. Kills me to say it. |

No way.. The courts are tailor made for a pusher and Murray is a different animal now then he was back in 2010 now that he has a slam under his belt
Murray in 3. 4 at the most. Murray can track all those shots down and force Fed into errors all day. Plus its a semis, not a finals so Murray will be feeling less pressure |

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying how can we possibly ever know.
You can say Federer has 17 slams and all these records and sublime skills but I've also seen Murray legitimately bagel Nadal for the loss of only 4 points in the set and Nadal said Murray was completely unplayable. What I'm saying is would Federer's A game stand up to that. Truth is we don't really know.

With Fed's A game, the only person I give a chance is Nadal on clay. It really doesn't matter otherwise, he's capable of destroying Djoker, Murray etc.
But of course, that Fed only shows up for maybe a few games in a match nowdays. If Roger is to lose, I want to see him get beaten by superb play from Muzza, not because of stupid lapses and mistakes like wasting bp's and getting broken when leading 40-0, which as we all know Fed specializes in these days. Basically, I want Muzza to earn it if he's to win, that will result in a nice match. Although of course I want Fed to win !! |
