That's putting it badly. Rafa beat him like a ginger stepchild that day.

The main reason why Djoko (uncharacteriscally) botched the USO 5th set has to do with getting scr-wed by the scheduling. Nothing to do with wind. ETA: Novak is prone to slow starts, wind or not.

How was he scr*wed by the scheduling? Didn't he have Ferrer in his semi?

Rafa is the only top 5 player whom Federer has bagelled on all surfaces.

Since Nads is retired I guess he can sleep easier knowing he got the best of a current one slam wonder, if only he could say the same about Rosol.

She means because he had to play Saturday, Sunday and Monday. But Saturday was just 2 sets and Sunday was 2 easy sets - and it's Djokovic we're talking about.

Apparently he can play five hours and 5 sets then come back and play another 5 sets and win, but he can't play 4 sets over 2 days then play another 5 sets and win.

Nadal is the only top 5 player not playing right now. That's the only relevant fact.

ferrer is tough. he has been a staple in the top 5 for years. the next best thing to the top 4. if it wasnt for rafa he would have multiple french opens by now.

Rafa is the only top 5 player to pick his butt 5 times in a minute.

The important thing is the day off in between. (He didn't play 2 5 setters back to back at AO, he had a day to recover). When your opponent is as good as Murray is and has a normal schedule and you need to come out 3 days in a row, of course it's gonna make a difference. At that level, everything matters. I'm sure it mattered for Murray at USO 2008.

Ok, thanks. If Lance can play endlessly for hours and hours and then come back fresh as a daisy, I think he can manage to play a few short sets over a few days time. Didn't he have that 4 hour semi against Andy in Rome in 2011 only come back the very next day showing no signs of ever having played that match, beating Nadal in the final?
