Well most people predicted this match-up for the final as soon as the draw came out, and despite the odd surprise on the way, it's happened.
http://www.andbethere.com/2013/01/au...l-summary.html here by the way is my round up of the semis - they couldn't have been more different. I just hope Djokovic isn't too fresh for Murray going into the big one on Sunday... What do people think Murray has to do to win it? (surely Djokovic is the clear favourite..)

Well I definitely didn't hope for this final but should be a good match. In terms of tactics, Muzza needs to serve like he did today and from there, it's just who can grind it out better

Nobody hoped for this final. I, for one, will be boycotting it.

I assume you don't know the forum rules about posting match spoilers. Wrong sub-forum for this thread.

I suppose I was hoping federer would win it, but couldnt see him getting past djokovic - a murray djoko final for me would always have been the most competitive.
Well no, I wasn't aware of that. Is it possible to repost the thread in the relevant section?

I wanted Federer Djokovic for the rivalry or Murray Nadal for the novelty.

This is the final I was expecting.
The final I was hoping for had Federer in it. After seeing the 5 setter against Tsonga and Murray make the semis comfortably I realize my hopes would not be coming true.

Never hoped for this final, besides, the level of tennis wasn't anything to write home about.

From a fan standpoint, I wanted Roger to beat Murray, but now the final will be more competitive than if Fed had won IMO, so I'm not really sad at all. I wouldn't say I hoped for this, but I'm not complaining that we got it.

I was hoping for this final tbh. Murray and Djokovic are where it's at in men's tennis right now, whether you like them or not.

This is the perfect final. The two best players right now duking it out, what more can you ask for?
I am slightly more of a Djokovic fan than a Murray fan, but I'll be happy regardless of the result.

i think, and hope, murray will win it. he seems the better player at the moment and has had the better tournament so far.
i will watch the first set and if it's just defensive grinding, then i'll probably skip the remainder of the match and socialise with friends/play tennis instead. Can't waste 5 hours of my life on a faster version of their warmup...

I was hoping for a Federer v Novak final but these two deserve go be there! To me Fed and Djok produce some amazing matches!
Murray was too good today though he served extremely well and it was tough for Federer to break! It is refreshing to see big serving trouble a legend of the game! It reminded me of last year when Isner served Federer off the court in the Davis Cup! |
