14 men's and 11 mixed doubles slams, as well as olympic gold and a few WTF titles.
How many slams is this worth in single's trophies, in terms of prestige? I say it's better than winning 3 singles slams. |

I would rather have the career he had in doubles than most of the top singles players ever.
-I would be one of the best doubles players ever -I would hold the doubles record for grandslams -I would have won everything there is to win -I would have so much money from all the wins He's had a pretty good career, no?

1) Todd Woodbridge won 16 mens doubles titles. Bob has 12. He still has to beat that record 2) I don't know what the hell you are talking about with the bolded point. Bob Bryan Career Prize Money= $ 9,483,982 Tomas Berdych Career Prize Money= $ 12,747,993 And Berdych is a million miles away from being one of the top tennis players ever. |

Maybe not Berdych, but damn right I would much rather have a career in singles that Murray, Hewitt, Safin, or Roddick have had than Bob Bryan's doubles career. They may have not won every title there is, but they have won a grand slam in singles and that to me, is the best achievement in the sport. As Agassi said in his book: Quote:

But, I'd rather be (arguably) the best doubles player ever than be more than outside the 30 all time for singles. Once you get to Djokovic-esque careers, I wholeheartedly agree with you. But, one slam winners in singles or 24-slams in multi-divisions, plus the olympic gold, the WTF 3 times, 21 masters, most weeks at #1 ever, and the Davis cup? Seems like an easy call for me

I don't think anyone starts out wanting to be a doubles specialist. Those that do end up being doubles specialist made a choice at one point in time that they probably don't have what it takes to make it as one of the top singles players. Without a doubt, doubles has nowhere close to the same prestige as singles. It can almost be viewed as a lower tier of the sport.
It's like asking someone whether they would rather have be an NFL quarterback that hasn't accomplished much, or a CFL quarterback that has won multiple championships. |

Also, I don't think it would be 18 million. If Bob and Mike split 50:50, I think they both earned 4.7 million individually over their careers from just tennis. Bob and Mike probably make more in endorsement fees than any doubles team before them, though. Last edited by Sid_Vicious : 01-26-2013 at 05:22 PM. |

Seeing as most singles players would kill for a career even 1/10 as good as the doubles career he has had I think he deserves some respect. Its not like he didn't have to work hard to win those 24 majors. Saying 24 majors in doubles isn't even worth 1 in singles is totally disrespectful.

If u look just into tournament prize money certainly someone like Berdych will easily beat the top doubles players. But certainly the Bryan`s make more money through endorsements, which could easily pass Berdych.
