I have 3 head racquets, play a bunch, and didn't think my grips had suffered much since I always keep fresh over-grips on them. Then, I bought a 4th racquet and realized just how much I had compressed the stock grips.
So.... I was looking to just buy 4 new grips and replace them all. Unfortunately, the choices are staggering. Any suggestions? Only thing that sticks in my mind is a demo I did a few months back. It was a Head racquet with a black Wilson grip (and no over-grip). I could really hold the racquet well -- but I worry about the summer months and lots of sweating. Any suggestions are most welcomed. |

Yeah... Replacement grips need to be replaced from time to time. Babolat Skin Feel grip held up for a long time for me.

Youre right, the choice of replacement grips is a minefield.
Bear in mind, some weigh heavy, like the Wilson Shock Shield and Pro Hybrid. Others are light, like the thinner grips, Skin Feel and Prince Resi-Thin. The thin ones will feel like a compressed standard grip also. If you can remember what grip you had on your rackets originally, I would stick with those, otherwise you could affect the balance and feel of your rackets.

I alternate between liking a bigger or smaller grip. Sometimes I double the overgrip to build it up. When I do, I notice it forces me to hit with better form -- i.e. I really have to follow-through completely on a serve to spin it down in the court, instead of just wrist-snapping the ball down into the court. Ditto on ground strokes -- it forces me to really follow-through up and around my neck to bring it down. Yet, in a fast match, I get in a pinch and miss the ability to just whip the racquet in a pinch and make a shot.... Might just do 2 racquets with the Skin Feel wraps and use 2 thicker wraps for the other racquets to experiment a little.... |

If youre looking to experiment, can I suggest the Head Synthetic Leather. It feels like leather but doesnt affect the weight/balance. So you get that firmness under the overgrip, which I really like in terms of feel. Just a thought as I am sure it would feel similar to a standard synthetic if you used 2 overgrips.
