Nole drew Ferrer in AO and the last USO. It is likely that Ferrer is seeded 4 for FO and Wimbledon. If Nole continues to draw Ferrer in these 2 at the semi finals, would it be luck of the draw or a conspiracy to make tennis popular by giving Nole a chance for calendar slam /plan for Nole-Fed final, since that is the most interesting combinaton for finals in the current context.

Rafa is gonna take back #4, so this is a 100% moot discussion.

He doesn't have a lot of points to gain (even with all the minor clay events he'll be playing) Between now and Wimbledon he has Indian Wells - defending 360, gain on offer 640 Miami - defending 360, gain on offer 640 MC - Defending 1000, no gain possible Barcelona - defending 500, no gain Madrid - defending 90, gain on offer 910 RG - defending 1000, no gain possible that's a possible gain of 2,190 points if he wins the first 5 masters events and Barca. And it's unlikely he'll do that (he might even drop barca or one hc master since he's playing a lot) he can gain an extra 1000 from the 3 added clay events but that makes it less likely that he'll play Barca or both IW and Miami. so he could gain 3,190 but really he'll do well just to add 1000 points from these events he's playing, he'll probably do better in Madrid if he plays it but can't see him playing these 3 clay events, then IW and Miami and the 3 clay masters and Barca too. Something has to go. Ferrer is about 1,400 in front and had very early exits at IW and MC so can gain points there. If Ferrer defends his points, Nadal can do it if he wins the 3 clay events he's added, plus MC, Rome and does a lot better in Madrid but if Ferrer does well it still might not be enough. I think it's more about Ferrer failing to defend points .

What I didn't get was...why the draw in OZ open was 1st seed vs 4th seed. I always think that 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4?
I guess I miss something for a while now... |

You bet. The ITF wants Djokovic to win the CYGS. It is due, has not happened in 25 years, Graf in 1988. I don't think so. |

Djokovic couldn't even take more than one set from Nadal at Roland Garros back in 2012 when Djokovic had won 3 straight slam finals over Nadal. Djokovic couldn't do it, despite the biggest mental edge in tennis history, because he has no idea how to beat Nadal at Roland Garros. Djokovic should be worrying about the US Open, because for the first time ever, Nadal is going to be fresh at Wimbledon and nobody will stop Nadal from his 3rd Channel Slam.

What if Nadal falls out of the Top 100 before the FO?
Not likely, but possible. His points from the FO, MC, Rome, and his SF results at Indian Wells and Miami are the only thing keeping him afloat. If there's a significant hangover and he struggles to find his rhythm... |

It is surreal that Nadal is so far ahead of the pack, that he can play without a knee and still win Roland Garros. |

Also, I just noticed this in another thread:
All of this is looking rather bleak. In the practice video he doesn't look comfortable moving around....on clay of all surfaces. https://twitter.com/FerGrisolia/stat...71846695923712 Quote: The knee still bothering me. The pain I feel will not let me do certain movements. Hope disappears # 4 is inevitable, huh? |
