Serena's ankle:

...yet she played through. Anyone trying to dare insinuate Serena cheated similarly to that of Azarenka needs to be hogtied and whipped.

Get better, Serena!

And we should believe that is actually Serena's ankle because she posted the pic? LOL. I thought it was her back that lost the match for her? Now it's her ankle? I don't believe anything she says anymore after the broken glass incident.

how do we know that's not how her ankle normally looks?

lol. just messing. that's pretty horrific.

serena is still a classless loser. one of the best to ever lace em up on the women's tour but completely without class. that's her legacy.

While I completely disagree with your assessment, I have to correct your usage of the term "loser". It is fundamentally incorrect to apply the term "loser" to a multiple slam winner.

haha. fair enuff. she is a winner on the tennis court and a shoe in for the tennis hall of fame. but she is a loser in the court of public appeal. short of being an incredible tennis talent and fierce competitor and american - there's little to cheer for. and to her credit i don't think she wants or needs public approval. she marches to the beat of her own drum and i guess it's a compliment to say she at least is being real. really unlikable but real to herself.

when she retires - i think it will be the biggest travesty that she was able to win 15+ majors in singles, many multiple dubs major titles, olympic gold medals, end of year #1 titles -- and she will have vastly UNDERACHIEVED in relation to her talent.

I think what the poster was saying is that when Serena loses she's classless. I agree.

Is this from an injury or the result of PED's??

Cheatarenka did take it to another level though.

I have a question: Is this swelling from after Serena's first round match where she twisted her ankle or after the Sloane Stephens match? Because I was under the impression her MTO during the Stephens match was because of her back.

Something about her wearing sandals in a restaurant where she stepped on some broken glass, was taken to the hospital and subsequently developed a life threatening blood clot under their care...and that's why she had not too long ago to take so much time off.

She supposedly stepped on broken glass in a Munich restaurant following the 2010 Wimbledon. But she has never been completely forthcoming with the details of this incident and the facts seemed to change every time she spoke of it. Then in early 2011 she had the blood clot incident that was so serious, she supposedly almost died. Yet a couple of months later she was back on the court. In all, she was out of the game for almost a year following Wimbledon 2010. Upon her return she seemed to be as good as ever.

Now that I think of it, there are many similarities to the current Nadal absence, including numerous injuries following Wimbledon and continuing on for months.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that's actually her ankle. Looks like someone's head in the foreground and her foot in the background. Can an ankle even swell up to that size???

She was not as good as ever when she came back! She cried when she won her first round match at wimbledon 2011 (because she wasnt sure if she would ever play again because she almost died from the clot, btw i have a friend who died from this exact same thing - it is serious!) She was overweight and lost in round 3 or 4 to Bartoli. She won some titles but no slams that year. She suffered one hematoma on her stomach that year (she had to inject blood thinners to keep from clotting) that she admitted to. I saw her pull tape off her stomach during her Miami 2012 match when Woz beat her (she never mentioned it in presser, so who knows how many hematomas she played with). If you watch the 2011 and early 2012 matches she sometime seems short of breath, but by clay season 2012 she seemed to work it out. It was a long journey of recovery for her and women's tennis is lucky she made it. She is rich and accomplished enough that she could have just gave up, but instead she came back stronger. To say she was "supposedly" injured and came back good as ever either means you didn't watch any of the matches or...you're a hater and you're unattractive inside.
