Being that I've been working hard on improving my second serve, a great second serve ace or service winner.

Down the line winner for sure - stepping in and just letting it rip feels great!

I enjoy dtl passing shots vs doubles, and crosscourt 1h bhs for winners in singles. |

Inside out backhand return winner from the deuce court. They never expect that kind of return off a one hander.

Stretch backhand volleys. Yes, "no one" serve and volleys anymore, but I do and there is nothing better than a well executed serve, volley to open court, and volley winner on the pass while stretched out.
But since someone else mentioned tweeners, I pulled off a perfect lob tweener for a winner over both opponents at the net once. Haven't done it since, so clinging to the memory of that one time |

Definately for me the 1hbh down the line is the most satisfying. I think it is the hardest shot to defend in tennis whether on our level or the pros.

Any low percentage hero shot.
One time some friends and I were playing practice doubles and we had match point. I was at the net and one of the better players hit a drive down the line that was supposed to go past me for a winner. I got to it via a stab volley that I knifed shallow (within 2 feet of the net) and cross court which landed and spun backwards into the net. The other net player was maybe a meter away from it in the service box, but couldn't get it because it spun away from him. Game/set/match. I knew from the feeling that I had knifed it pretty well, but didn't realize just how good until I saw the action of the ball once it bounced on the ground. That was pretty nice considering it went from defense to offense in a blink of an eye. Shot of the night! lol Another nice one was a single-handed backhand from the deuce side service return that was served at the T and I returned it shallow crosscourt dtl and past the net player in front of me. When I say shallow crosscourt dtl, I mean taking it inside-in on the backhand and hitting it dtl into that small area that you're always told not to return into. lol Like I said, "low percentage hero shots". Guy at the net didn't even move. Here's the problem though. I get so addicted to shots like this that it has cost me matches when I try to play them too much. It's like crack... once you're hooked, you're done. lol Last edited by SwankPeRFection : 01-28-2013 at 01:08 PM. |

This. I especially enjoy a screaming OHBH DTL return passing shot in doubles which leaves the net guy flat-footed and with a WTF look on his face. Priceless. Unfortunately I can hit that shot about once a season but it's still a favorite.

Any shot hit from way off the court. I remember a practice doubles match where my teammate gave a sitter to the other team and I sprinted way out wide knowing they were going to angle off an overhead and I managed to get to it and hit a backhand "down the line" winner from the middle of the service line on the adjacent court.

I like to hit forehand slices so for me, it's when the ball slices away away from them or into their body and they hit an awkward shot. People hate my forehand slice and seeing them so annoyed (or cursing at me) is such a satisfying feeling, haha.

I should probably add as well, when your opponent goes for a smash and you guess the right direction where they hit it...then hit a winner past them.

To me, the cross court forehand is the most satisfying. It doesn't necessarily have to be a winner, but I prefer that my opponent scramble to get a racquet on the ball. It has something to do with my best shot being better than the opponent's best (if the opponent is a righty and his best shot is the forehand, which is most people's best.)

Looks like I'm the first one to say this, but I always like a perfect backhand slice. Watching the guy try (and fail) to pick the ball up off of the court is usually pretty funny. I've even seen some people resort to just lobbing it back.

My favorite is the full sprint, full stretch, backhand slice semi-lob DTL passing shot winner
