I just think it will be interesting to see how she does in the Fl. rankings and if she gets close to what DB did being no.1 in each age group at least a year ahead . But she will need to get at least 1 win soon . |

So at 14, 15, or 16 who cares. The kid is a wizard and the results support it. Once you play ITFs, Futures and Challengers, the age thing just doesn't matter.

i agree because if your small and have won playing defensively at and early age it will catch you , if you are big and have played aggressively and won a lot that will catch you also , but I much rather get caught with size .

Let us know when she gets that 1st win ?? BTW very relevant you want her to go pro and your starting at 8 yrs old with your decision and we wanted to go pro at 8 ,Jan Silva at 5 and so on and so on , same situation just another parent chasing a dream that cant be caught except by the inner city athletic freaks ! I cannot resist to say as reader and follower of the most junior topics here that something is fake in TCF every post story about his daughter.
Withdrawal from competition is not a option for talented tennis player in any age. Tennis player must bite for win, will and play everyone, give maximum every time. This kind of delay is only for later admitting that kid is(were) not talent after all. Just built up in parents mind. |

To TCF and #1 Coach, take the criticism with a grain of salt, nothing wrong with poking a little fun at you.

It is interesting, since I've been following you guys on here TCF has usually said he did not care if she became a tennis pro or something else, just that she is happy and doing what she loves to do. Very eye opening to see the affect of junior competition and development on tennis parents.

Wow, $100+?! Ouch! I just cringed at a $54 L4.

$100? Are you entering a national event? Down here in Georgia most of the tournaments are around $48. Some are less, sectional and national tournaments are around $100

As a new poster on this forum, I would like to give my opinion on the subject of juniors and professional tennis. I have played at every level (juniors, college D-1,futures) so I believe I have adequate knowledge. To start, congratulations to BB and DB on their success. To achieve a top 10 national ranking in 18s as a sixteen year old is amazing and shows the hard work he puts in. That being said, the time has come at his current age to let professional futures results dictate the next move. Forget juniors at this point outside of a few big events, as you have already secured a scholarship at a top D-1 school if you want it. Play 10-12 futures events for the next two years and see where you stand as a professional. If at 18 years old DB is ranked 1200 ATP, time to go to college. If he is ranked inside the top 300 ATP, he has a legitimate chance to be a money making pro. This is what all top ITF juniors are doing and it is the right path. The next subject I will discuss tonight will be the financial pitfalls of a professional career. Not a fun topic at all. Later.
