Gamma 5003 Stringing Machine

I am 16 and I play number two singles on my varsity tennis team and i am popping a string every two to three practices now. I am looking at getting a machine and wondering if anybody had and backround on this machine. I am looking at the Gamma 5003 machine.

Hi it is exellent machine, I do have similar one 6004, also in the future if you want to sell it, the machine has very high resale value. All Dicks stores string to their customers with 5003.

Gamma machines have an excellent reputation; so do the Alpha machines. Why not give Mark a call, at Alpha, and of course, tell him I said "hello."

I've owned a 5003 for about three years. Prior to the 5003 I owned a Prog STII. I upgraded for the convenience of a floor standing machine. There isn't a component on the 5003 that is not of at least very high quality. The all metal clamps operate smoothly and hold well with very little force. The mounting system is quick, easy to use, and has held every racquet I've ever mounted securely. The tension system also works smoothly and has proven to be accurate over the entire time I've owned it. I would not hesitate to recommend the 5003 and if I needed to purchase a new machine right now, I'd buy another 5003. I personally think they're a great deal for the $$$ and probably the perfect stringer for a #2 player. However, if you manage to work your way up to the number 1 spot, you may want to consider the 6004.

Is the only difference between the 6004 and the 5003 the - Super quick Cam-Lock swivel clamps

That, and the pretty darn quick single knob mounting system. The 6004 is listed as having a suspension mount. the 5003 is listed as having a "Quick mount" system. Although, they both appear to hold the racquet the same way. The 5003 has two knobs on each end to adjust. The 6004 has a single knob. If that extra 3 seconds is very dear to you, you may want to consider the 6004.

You mentioned that your prior machine was a Prog STII and now you use a 5003? Are the mounting systems and base the same on both machines, basically no clear advantage from one over the other besides the fact that one sits on a table and the other has a built in stand? Why not just buy the optional ProgSTII stand?

The mounting system, clamps, and tensioning system are identical.

I liked the added stability of the floor standing unit. It's a bit more secure due to the heavier base.

Great stringing machine. You will love a stand alone unit. Much faster, easier than a table top/drop weight. You can't go wrong with either the 5003/6004. Good Luck...
