Exactly, and the wimpy Tsonga can only learn from Nadal how to hit hard...

According to this he is in fact using it at the urging of uncle toni. Also babolat wants to heavily market the microchip in the raquet thing- play and connect at the end of the year and they really need nadal to perform well since nobody in top 5 uses babolat and roddick is gone now.

The racquet has bearely changed since the first edition...I doubt it would help.

Babolat racquets don't feel good on impact....has no feel. It a miracle Nadal can volley decent with that racquet.

No joke. I'm shocked that he hasn't been sidelined with shoulder/elbow/wrist injuries more than his knees.

He thinks a Racket Change will fix everything He is like any player struggling with their game who thinks the problem is the racket. How long before he realizes its not the racket its his game.

See I disagree......I've been using the PSLtd+ for years and just this fall switched to the new 2013 APD+.......I love it and really really didn't think I would. I never liked the APD before but this one does play better......my son is on free list and switched from Wilson 6.1 95 to it as well - also shocked me he did this. It's a boatload more comfortable -

Babolat have been telling all their coaching ambassadors since 2007 that Rafa is switching to Cortex, BUT he doesn't need it!

He just needs that boomerang feel *

I would be surprised after all this time that he now wanted or even needed a softer feeling frame...
he still likes belting it with full poly.

and that racquet to whistle through the air again!*

Just hope he gets back & cranks it up again.

Surprised that Mr 10000 accounts hasn't turned up already to say "nadal reached to final of the AO with only a few weeks of getting used to adding more weight to his racquet" etc..

Makes me laugh that he wants more topspin though haha. Is that even possible?

He doesnt really hit the ball that hard frequently, he just swings fast and puts spin on the ball, a hitter like Tsonga, Berdych, Isner and even roddick put more stress on a racket than nadal does, spin puts more stress on the string vs. the racket. Big hard flat hitting puts more spin on the racket vs. the string.

PS Aggy broke her racket at the cortex in the 2011 US open, but that was because she was banging it all around the whole match, and eventually on a return, SNAP! Right at the cortex. She was pissed the whole match trowing tantrums.

sorry cluck. you may have misunderstood me- Babolat have been telling us since 2007 he was changing to cortex but HE NEVER HAS!

It has become a running joke at Coaching Conferences that they tell us he is "really going to switch this year"

Everybody almost smirks & changes the subject...

No worries raging. The day Rafa actually uses cortex will be the day we find out what he's actually been playing with.

Yep...exactly the same when told the last two years he would also use the Roland Garros PJ - a hahahaha poor sales and marketing reps with sheepish look on their faces telling us all "yes he does use cortex and yes he will use the special edition!!!!!!" Ahahahaha

You mean like his knees?

"I'm really going to try to play the Olympics. Nope, not ready yet."
"I'm really going to play the US Open. Nope, not ready yet."
"I'm really going to play the season ending indoor stretch. Nope, not ready yet."
"I was going to play AO Open. But uhh, I caught a stomach virus and needs to pull out 2 weeks prior to the actual tournament."

At this point, everything that comes out of Nadal's camp is a moo point.

All this talk of spin is most appropriate for the story.
