Default Luxilon ALU rough alternative?

As of right now, my current set up is Luxilon alu rough at 53. This has got to be my favorite string at the moment. The only thing I don't like about it is the tension maintenance, and the price. I'm looking for something that plays similar, and the price isn't so high. I ordered some kirschbaum black shark a little while ago but just didn't really like it, I didn't feel like a had the control I did with the luxilon. What do you guys recommend?

This is the question that has been asked for years, and the string you want.....does not exist. Nothing on the market now replicates the feel of any type of ALU. Topspin Cyberflash up to 2010 did feel remarkably similar, but the formulation is new.

I would recommend you try Tour Bite if you have not yet. A good stiff playing spin monster of a string. Doesn't feel like ALU, but still damn good.

SigPro Tornado and Tecnifibre Black Code and TEcnifibre Ruff Code are also premium grade rough co-polys. They want feel exactly like ALU but they are very very good and last a bit longer before trampolining or dull.

^^^Tornado is is 3rd in my 5 fave poly list, but it feels absolutely nothing like ALU. That's actually exactly why I like it so much haha.

As JT said, the closest thing I have found on the market is Typhoon grey. It's still not that similar IMO, but I do think it's the closest available.

I was looking for alu power replacement. 2 options that you should look at:
Big hitter silver rough 16gg. This has the crisp feel like alu but not too stiff
Or
Genesis typhoon. Really good for the first couple hours, than loses its great playability.

Typhoon is better than bhsr at first but drops below bhsr after a couple of hours

Thanks guys. I think I may just look into some non textured polys, since I'm not looking for a string that produces monster amounts of spin, I just like that controlled spin.

As I'm sure PVaudio will say, it doesn't compare.

Try Big Hitter Silver Rough or MSV HeptaTwist.

I LOVE ALU.

Using the word love here.

But I couldn't afford it since it broke in 45min-1 1/2 hour of hitting.

Tried Kevlar/ALU and it caved all my racquets.

Now I am using a hybrid of BBO/ALUR, and it is lasting me about twice as long as full ALU, maybe 1 hour to 3 hours.

The BBO/ALUR needs to be strung MUCH MUCH looser than full ALU since the BBO is so stiff. But the BBO bites like hell, and the ALU gives it a bit of pop.

It is a different feeling blend, but I like it just as much, if it lasts twice as long for you and costs about the same, I consider that a win.

Looks can be deceiving. I get free Black Widow here and there from Dunlop. And I still use ICE. Its a generic version of Alu, except its better in some areas.
