They tend to lack variety in their games. Other than that they appear to be solid 5.0 and much better. Lots of power, spin and court coverage.

You're joking, right? A senior girl blue chip would any male 4.5. A much fairer estimate would be 5.5.

Aren't women one Level below men? I heard that a female 6.0 is equivalent to a male 5.0.

A male four star is about a mid 5.0, 5 star is strong 5.0 and blue chip is 5.5 plus. This is as accurate as you will get, as I teach a boys 4 star and a girls 5 star. I also know many of the top juniors in my area from 3 star to blue chips. A female blue chip would probably be able a womens 5.5, so you are looking at a mens strong 4.5 rating I would say.

I know a girl who's a blue chip, top 25 I the country. She consistently loses to a boy who's only a 1 star. If he played more tournaments he would likely be closer to being a 3 star, but even so, there's a pretty wide gap between girls and guys in the rating system.

Girl blue chips are probably around a solid 5.0 for men, based on watching top DI women play. Of course, some of them are better than that.

I have a question, I know this would be different for everyone, but how long would it take for a great junior to become a blue chip?

Blue chips are junior players who are ranked very high in the ITF ranking system, they usually are the first ones to be recruited by D1 college teams. There are two blue chips at my university, very big and very solid. Has to be 5.5+

A 5 star boy is similar to a 5.5 NTRP male. So a Blue chip girl would be about a upper level 4.5

This girl is a blue chip. She would beat 4.5s pretty easily. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGUzrcKVn60

as I said earlier, 4.5 but with the understanding that 'blue chip' has no ceiling, so I guess the more appropriate question is, what is the minimum mens NTRP level equivalent can a girl make blue chip? and if so, at about what ITF ranking?
I guess solid 4.5 maybe the answer based on a couple replies earlier. |

Sorry, I seem to have picked a clip of her losing. The one clip on all of Youtube that shows her in a bad light...(facepalm). Yes though, she is very, very good and would demolish any male 4.5. Actually, she made the second (or maybe it was the third) round of the U.S. Open junior draw. She wasn't good enough for the main draw. Just goes to show how good the top players are, male or female.

Ok..my bad.. but a 4.5 male can easily look this good from the side perspective. Couldn't see the placement of the ball so I was just going on form and movement, which obviously is not enough to make an accurate judgement.
