No way Nadal is losing R.R he is unbeatable on that surface.
Soderling whose only the proof of anomaly.

I'll see how Nadal preforms at the clay masters events. If he gets into trouble there I may bump him down to co-favorite...8 months off shouldn't be underestimated though.

As soon as Nadal confirmed his return to the tour after a long injury break, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) proceeded to test him for doping four times in two weeks

anomaly?

Nadal's knees were shot then as well; as Nadal's straights sets defeat of Soderling the very next year underscored...

So, if a guy like Roger tests positive, the same interests promoting the sport as condoning these tests have incentive the results. This "getting a free pass" may go similarly for Novak being an amiable, talkative spokesman who can promote the sport off court.

But now look at Rafa; suppose he tested positive after Wimbledon 2012. What are the promoters thinking at this point? "Well, Novak represents us better abroad; besides, Novak didn't take over the players' council and try to make all kinds of potential trouble for us there; not to mention that Novak so demolished Rafa last year that maybe Rafa's brand isn't even worth our protecting anymore. Why don't we flat out bench Rafa for six months, instead of the usual slap on the wrist?"

Yeah, I kind of believe that they caught Novak between 2011 and 2012 and told him to be smarter or stay clean which explains his dip in level from 2011 to 2012. I say "dip" because he seems to be ramping back up to his 2011 form again. I believe that when these big guys test positive, they are given passes until they cross a line.
you mean to say testing positive isn't crossing a line? Or winning everything in sight after not winning everything in sight? What exactly would crossing a line be? What could be more blatant than what Djoker did in 2011?

On this forum - people attack ex-players, players, coaches, linesmen, ballboys, umpires, ITF, ATP, WTA.

But mostly other posters.

Nobody is safe!

Nadal has been awesome on the red-dirt.
I hope he returns to RG @ full strength.
For the sake of the sport.

I fear not, how long since he last played again?

RG is a big task...even for Nadal.
he will not play unless he is 100%

The fear will return...

Once he spanks a few top 20 and top 10 pros on his way to Roland Garros the field will fear him again... he just needs to emphatically beat a couple of guys.

What I meant....that he can play no warm up events...and just play his way to form and still win.

What you just said, makes a lot of sense. It could be dam well true.....Novak form, Nadal absence, and Novak increased exposure to the world.....which means more bucks for the ATP.

I agree. I think Nole at his best will beat Rafa at 95% though.

He doesnt think he still has his aura or he wouldnt be in a place like chile. He wants to slowly gain it back.
It's very simplistic thinking that 8 months away from pro tour has no effect on your aura.

Nadal is playing in Latin America because he wants to play his way back into form after a 7 month absence from playing competitive tennis. It's far better for Nadal to do that in Latin America with smaller and weaker fields on clay-courts, than in Indian Wells and Miami on hardcourts with big fields containing all the top players. By the time Monte Carlo starts, Nadal will want to be feeling like he does every April.

Presumably so, but he's not as likely to play his way back into top form there before Monte Carlo.

Nadal vs Del Potro at RG could be pretty good if Nadal's not in optimum form.
