It's certainly going out on a limb, especially considering his performance at the AO, but I think JMDP will have more than a fighting chance. He's a solid claycourter who's challenged Fed, Nadal, and Djokovic and beaten Murray on the dirt. With the Nadal uncertainty, Fed another year older, and Murray suspect on the surface, Delpo's only real challenge, in my opinion, would be Djokovic and his own inconsistency. Of course, we'll have to wait to see how Nadal performs in the coming months, but I really think Delpo has a great shot at the title at this moment in time.

Right so because he lost in five it must have been his stamina. He might not be as fit as the top 5 but for someone of his height he is very fit. The only match I would agree with you on is the Davis cup match with Ferrer otherwise I justthink he lost to the better player on the day.

The only legitimate match that Delpo lost out of the one's the poster listed due to stamina was the 2009 FO SF. JMDP outplayed Fed for the first three sets and tanked the fourth after going down an early break in order to stay competitive in the fifth. However, he was running on fumes at that point. In their 2012 FO rematch, he got injured. As for the 2011 matches, he was coming from an entire year of not playing any competitive tennis, so it's hard to blame him for fitness issues.

After the first FO loss to Federer, he realized he needed better fitness to hang with the best players. He was down 2 sets to 1 in the US Open final against Fed and came back. Night match or not, it was still an impressive turnaround.

coming back from an injury is no excuse after 10 months from reentry.......even in 2012 there are some matches which he just threw away right from the beginning because he was not prepared for a 4 hour grind.......stamina is his major problem.......it's not that hard to see.......

del potro had a knee injury at rg in 2012..at rg 2009 federer played better (*delpotro was only 20 )

why you are obsessed with stamina i dunno del potro only just lost to fed at olympics, then had enough to beat djokovic for bronze..

and del potro had enough to come back from a set down to pull feds knickers down at basle his home tourney. fed got tired.

and beat fed again at wtf..del potro was just too good for fed that time

I guess you missed Agassi's quote about how it takes double the amount of time back that you missed from injury to get your game and body back up to snuff. He was gone a whole year. No, I don't blame him for any losses due to poor stamina in 2011.

As a big guy, yes - stamina is going to be the biggest question mark. But look at how he rebounded after the epic match with Fed at the Olympics last year.

No one said he was. He has had stamina problems in the past and I had just posted that, as a big guy, stamina will always be a question mark.

Del Potro definitely has a better chance than Murray At least he's won 4 clay tournies. I still think Federer has a better chance than Delpo, but it will depend a lot on the draw at his age. If he gets another draw like the AO then forget it. And clay is not exactly Tsonga's forte so I agree Delpo has a better chance than him. Almagro I won't even bother discussing.

I thought every match is won and lost with the coin toss...

I think Delpo is the distant 3rd favourite unless we'll see a Murray on clay that we haven't seen before (unlikely). That said, the winner will most likely be Nadal or Djokovic. It depends on the seedings a bit as well. If Federer, Nadal and Djokovic all end up in the top half things could get really interesting, at least until the final.

Very very very distant 3rd favorite probably, but close to Djokovic and Nadal in chances to win, LOL, a huge no. Probably no more than 3% chance the winner of this years French will be someone not named Djokovic or Nadal. You and other ****s who think otherwise are the deluded ones.

well hmmm Djoker has never won RG. And if Nadal is in Djoker's half only one of them can make it to the final. The draw will have a lot to say about what goes on there.
