Default Raonic Serve - safer for shoulder?

with a more closed stance during the up swing and at impact, the swing is more 'around the spine'...

compared to, say, Tomic serve, more open stance, the swing is more parallel to the spine.

thoughts?

don't copy tomic's serve. it's not even wta level.

if roanic's style doesn't suit you copy sampras, roddick, federer and such players, or someone who has similar height as you and is a good server. there are so many good options to choose from.

When Raonic serves, it's safe for my shoulders.
Unless I'm trying to return his serves.
What is "safe"?
If it works, it will, over time and repetition, hurt your shoulder.

I always advocate...
Feet much more closed then hips.
Hips closed so the back of the hips almost faces target.
Shoulder's aligned with target or slightly closed.
Stay closed for more control of your racket. Don't open up on the swing until the arm goes past the shoulder.
Closed, closed, but maybe not as much as McErnoe or Connors.

when I was out practicing serves today... I did feel comfortable staying more closed.... seemed to have more room turning around the spine....

also you are right, feels like there is better control of the racket face.
