D1 Rankings

Did ITA/Campbell rankings come out for D1 teams/singles/dubs? I see publish date of November 16 in 2012-2013 rankings manual, but can't find them anywhere. I do see the D2 rankings out there.

Nothing new until January 3rd. The preseason singles/doubles were released back in September - link

Thanks TopDawg, I was thinking you would know the answer to that. I was under the impression they put something out after fall season but when I looked again it says report date which is Nov. 16, but release date is Jan 3. I suppose they will include matches to that November date. Got it.

Rankings should be out some time later today - seems like they usually release these things later in the afternoon.

My Top 10:
1. Virginia
2. USC
3. Duke
4. UCLA
5. Oklahoma
6. Ole Miss
7. Ohio State (if Rola comes back I'd bump them to 3)
8. Mississippi State
9. Florida
10.Georgia

Rola is definitely coming back to Ohio St. I would think this is his last semester there.

With him ranked 310 you'd think the only reason to come back would be to get his degree and after playing Futures since June unless he was really ahead in the classroom he has to be more than 1 semester away from graduating. He only has 2 points to defend from Jan-mid June so you'd think he'd strike while the iron is hot and make a push to get up into the 100s. If he could squeeze it in I suppose he'd could get into qualies of Delray Beach in late Feb and get into qualies in the Dallas Challengers in February and March. All the USA Futures would be on the west coast or in Florida. It'd be great for Ohio State if he does come back.

Always good for discussion when these come out. I love my Dawgs but we're not #6 at this moment in time based off what we have coming back and what we lost from last year. Pepperdine, Kentucky, and Stanford are each about 5+ spots too high too based off what they lost.

I know Blaz is playing the Maui Challenger that starts on Monday. I can see him only playing the big matches for OSU if he comes back at all. I would have thought that he would have been on the ranking list if he was going to play this year though.

How would they have ranked Rola with no matches for this year on his record?

This is why the first singles rankings are totally useless. Just like last year with Steve Johnson not being ranked at all in the beginning of the year rankings. IMO, It should be a 12 month rolling ranking.

I think Rola will go pro. You have to wonder why he even went to college at all.

Nothing surprising in the rankings. Only oddity is Fresno State dropping so low.

Fresno State should feel fortunate to be ranked that high. They lost their top 5 from last year with 3 being seniors (#1 Boutillier,#3 Diame,#4 Ayoun), #2 Alcantara transferring to Pepperdine, and #5 Leslie leaving the team. Their coach, Jay Udwadia, left to take the Oklahoma State job and with him went their #1 mid-major recruiting class since Del Nunzio followed him to Okie St and Boris Arias went to LSU. Not sure where the other 2 ended up but it wasn't Fresno State.

They currently only have 4 players on their roster who went a combined 16-29 in the fall though they've got 2 International recruits joining the team in January. New coach Evan Austin, who came from Drake, will have a tough year. Interesting tidbit: Jay Udwadia came to Fresno State from Drake too so evidentally their must be something good happening in Des Moines.

Without taking the time to go through the latest rankings in detail overall I see a number of holes in them. Yea, for the most part the top 20 is close to accurate for team and players. Without naming names there's a number of players who should be ranked left out. As earlier stated this first ranking is not very important. I anticipate a big change once matches are played and the next ranking comes out.
