Default Worst Umpiring I've ever seen (time violoation!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1sdb4WgUTo

If you see from 5:50, you can realize that the umpire said "30-15" at 5:58 and then he calls in time violation at 6:14.

Now that's 16 seconds!!! Isner didn't even use his towel he normally uses, and he was just getting balls and ready to serve without any pause or using towels!

Later when he was arguing, the umpire said "it was way over 25 seconds"

I can't believe this kind of mistake can happen at this stage! I mean, it's not even close!

This def. threw Isner off, and I would've been really ****ed off if I was in Isner's situation as well!

And then I remember in Indian wells, Djokovic was called in time violation after taking 40 seconds break and then Djokovic's excuse was "well, I came to the line"

That wasn't even funny!

I thought 25 seconds was from the point when umpire tells the score to when a player TOSSES up the ball, not when he COMES to the line!

same with Rafa, he's been taking 40 seconds and no violation was called often.

I guess the rule can be changed based on who's playing????

I am certain if it wasnt for Nadal there would be no change in the way umpres react to time violation.

In that Isner video it may be that they edited a little time out of the clip. I know it says it's full coverage but they're not always actually full coverage.

if it was edited, then they would've edited the whole part before tossing.

Also, I don't think this particular one was edited, the movements and motions are not awkward.

well, Nadal alone wouldn't make this such change. A combination of Nadal AND Djokovic would though (ie. Aussie final)

In that case the umpire may be warning him for a couple of previous points where he went over - hence it being a warning - as he's entitled to do.

I thought the time started when the point ended. But even if you do take it from there, it's only 18 seconds which is ridiculous. But it's funny that the commentators didn't comment on it which makes me think the footage was maybe edited.

IMHO the umpire just got mixed up and made a mistake. I remember watching this live on TV and wondering what the heck the ump was doing.

BTW Isner talks with the ump at 8:15.

there you go! Here's a proof from someone who watched it LIVE.

in my opinion, he counted 15 as opposed to 25 so he thought when it was 16 seconds, it was 26 seconds in his mind and made a really bad mistake!

Umpires have too much power. Where are the checks and balances? Who can rein in an umpire gone wild? It is a major issue these days.

time starts at the end of the point not when the official calls the score.

Ridiculous umpiring! John was classy with his reaction but such umpires are a disgrace to our sport that was barely 15 seconds

Agree Ump made a mistake, but hardly worst umpiring ever. Just recently someone posted the Roddick match against Hewitt with the horrfic overule by the umpire at a critical juncture of the 5th set. What made is so bad, was that it was not only worng, but the call was on the far side away from the umpire. No way should he have gotten involved with the call which was obviously very close. To me, that is far worse than miscounting and giving a warning that had no effect on the outcome of the match.
