He's not hurt but it's his first event back. Toni said his timing was off. Let's give him some time to hit his stride. Great match from Zeb in any case.

Reasonable response. This was more addressing the *** army that made predictions about how Nadal would go undefeated through the clay season.

I thought Nadal did pretty well after a 7 month layoff. The matches up until Zeballos were really nothing more than hitting practice. Chardy played horrible.
I know Nadal losing is the big troll story, but I hope people give a lot of credit to Zeballos. I watched that final. Zeballos first-serve/first-strike tennis was absolutely awesome. Zeballos should not feel like he was given that win. He absolutely earned it and would have beaten most players in the world playing like that. Big kudos to him on that performance.

Zebs played great and won the match. Case closed. Interestingly, Nadal was 2 points from winning the match at 5-4 with Zeb serving down 15-30 with a 2nd serve. Nadal missed the 2nd serve return into the net and Zeb held on to win that game and never looked back. Good for him.

This is not a thread that was meant to take away from Zeballos, he played very well.

i'd go with this too. there were alot of shots he dropped short in the 2nd set tiebreaker of the final and even a few first serves that he was amazingly tentative with. that should change with more matchplay.

Rafa was injured no doubt. Every time he loses it must be an injury. The excuse machine never ends with Rafa.

It may not have looked too good if he had won this tournament since it is a chance for the lesser known players to gain some money. I did not think he would go the whole tournament anyway. We shall see the real Nadal as he progresses into the bigger arena.

How would it not look good? Did he not enter the tournament with the intent of winning it?
