Default Head Prestige Pro - quick question IG and Youtek versions

Hi all,

I just noticed on TW that the Youtek Prestige Pro is listed as 11g lighter than the IG Prestige Pro (335g vs 346g) but both have the same SW and balance. Would that indicate the Youtek version is more accessible for than the IG? I noticed Sean Hemmer's comments about not switching from Youtek to the IG version due to the heavier feel. Any comments?

Many thanks

David

The IG version does feel a tad heavier, but I wouldn't say that makes the YT version "more accessible". If you can play with one, you can play with the other. The difference is pretty negligible IMO.

Weight made very little difference to me. The IG was the superior racket, in my opinion. Just felt better overall.

thanks both. food for thought. I was often late swinging under pressure with the IG Prestige Pro (more so than when playing with the MP or 95D). I think it is right on the edge of my playable range.

i'm also interested in the pro 2012 IG version versus the 2011 non-IG version regarding the 0.4 ounce difference. can you feel that difference? is the non-IG version more maneuverable especially defensively versus big hitters? Is the non-IG version more shoulder friendly on serves? I'm considering getting the pro but a little worried about the weight so considering trying the 2011 non-IG. My prostaff and POGs are more headlight than the pros even though they are 12+ ounce sticks and may swing easier... especially the POG, and the IG MP (black LTD one of course).... and seeing what happens.

4.5 topspin player coming from PS6.095, head pro tour 630, back to PS, now POG mid which I love but worry about the headsize versus bigger hitters/defensively.....

THANKS for any advice and experience.

I've played with both the IG and non IG sticks an I personally can't tell the difference. I played with the juice right before my switch and my control is a lot better with the head stick. My advice would be for you to demo them before spending any $. Me personally, it's the right racquet for my game.

I had the YT Pro demo and it was definitely a bit of a log for me - didn't measure the weight - but liked it well enough to go for it.

I ended up ordering two at the lighter end of what TW had in stock, and they come in at 318g unstrung, so about 344g strung and they're a dream to play with.

Playing Head's quationable QC in my favor, I guess....

Exactly. I couldn't tell much of a difference either. But you need to choose which ever racquet suits you better. Hence, demoing it before making a purchase!

I played with both versions. Ended up getting the IG. But the difference between the two is very minimum.

That's pretty close. I hope this means that Head's quality control is finally shaping up.

It's been so long since I swung a Youtek PP; however, a couple of years ago I owned one. Anyways, I've been playing with a Youtek mid for the past nine months now, so this may skew what I'm about to say.

Just a couple days ago I swung my buddies IG PP--that the was first and only time that I've ever swung an IG PP. My first impressions were that it felt noticeably lighter than my YT PP, and possibly more forgiving. The IG seemed to have much more free pop than I remember the YT having...the IG actually felt on impact like a Head Instinct, an interesting blend of soft-and-snappy. I liked the flex of the IG more than the YT.

I found the IG version to have a better feel, and maybe a little more pop.

If the IG PP is a bit lighter but with the same balance and SW, wouldn't that mean it is therefore slightly more polarized with all the dynamic consequences of that?

Been using them for around a month now, and I must say, They are the best racket I have used.
In standard form, plow through is big, feels so solid! Lovely around the net and on service too. Spin is amazing.

I have both a YouTek and IG Prestige Pro, and both have the same listed unstrung weight.
