Beat Davydenko 7-5, 6-3 in second round in Rotterdam.
I did feel this might be his breakthrough year. He still seems a bit inconsistent but good results like this and against Tomic in first round means hopefully he can be top 20 by end of the year. |

I only watched the highlights, but read somewhere that the Tomic match was an error-fest by both players. But good win for Dimitrov nonetheless. This win is even better. Davydenko is clearly past his prime but he's exactly the type of player that I would expect to school the young Dimitrov. I hope this means that Grigor is done being schooled.

Davy really is a shadow of his former self these days. If this is truly Dimmy's breakthrough year he needs to take out a Tsonga or Ferru or Muzz.

Davydenko isnt the player he was but if Dimitrov is going to take out the bigger names then these are the matches he needs to start winning regularly so he can go deeper in tournaments.
Not sure about his clay court game but I have seen him play well on grass at Queens and would like ot see a decent run at Wimbledon. His record at Grand Slams is poor and he needs to make sure he finds his best form in the biggest tournaments. |
